ZX81 Kit build with pics

Saw this over on reddit - someone's taken one of the unsold ZX81 kits and built it up, taking some pictures along the way :)

    Good find, very interesting.

    Not sure I would have the courage to pay the asking price for a ZX81 kit and then assemble it together myself.

    $240 for the kit including a 16K ram expansion and a couple books. Not too shabby.

    He's only soldered in a few diodes so far! I had mine up and running within 3 hours of receiving the kit (back in 1982, when I was a teenager)...

    Nice pictures, took me right back.

    It is one way of getting the mintiest ZX81 you'll ever see though :)

    Nice kit But I suspect something got swapped as the kits never went beyond 81-82 and this one one sports an issue three ULA dated 1983.

    CPU and ROM date codes are in the same ballpark though, and seeing that the ROM is Sinclair branded would indicate some level of originality?
