I have returned! This time with no tape problems!
Hello all.
Some of you may remember me from about a month or so ago with this little spawn of satan...

It was all working ok apart from the tape unit which had a extremely strange tape issue which the speed would go all over the place...
after cleaning, tweaking, new parts, new belt... emailing many experts online... list goes on... I finally gave up and the speccy was sadly used for parts to revive a friends 2 spectrums.
This had left abit of a empty spot for me though and I've been thinking what to do next... I really love the spectrum and want to eventually try coding for it. After alot of time thinking about which would be best to buy next I'm happy to report i just got myself a 48k!

It's a 48k (working) with joy stick adaptor, power cable & tv cable. It was purchased from eBay for ?25 + ?6 p&p which i assume was a fairly good price?? I've seen 48k's on eBay sell for 40/50 so I'm guessing i did pretty well?
Main reasons for wanting a 48k apart from the obvious... Was I wanted something i can run MP3/TZX/TAP files into via my android phone and a mono cable which will make loading games and coding for it alot easier. I also love its size it will fit perfectly under my TV and I've also seen that it is very simple to perform a composite mod on which i want to do.
All in all should meet all my needs :-D First plan is to perform the composite mod as neatly as possible.
Will report back when it arrives.

I'm going to use this to try and learn BASIC and machine code. I think this and the 48k Spectrum will make a good little team.
Good times! :-D
I bought a official unit from Spec-Chum which i was using since i got it but the unit made a wierd electric buzzing noise looked at the adaptor they had been using and it was 12v...
fantastic... another ZX bites the dust... I really have no luck... :-x

Already got a refund which is good :) just a shame i'm yet again left with a junk spectrum... this is the second time now... now i need to try yet again to find one...
I'm sorry to hear about your plight, but at least you didn't lose money on the deal.
I would suggest you check the Sintech shop from time to time, they often have refurbished hardware for sale, but sadly no +2A at the moment of this writing.
Here's the link to their Spectrum hardware section:

Good luck :)
Feel free to help yourself to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum +3 Manual.pdf
Hopefully i will find one... I don't trust eBay enough anymore.
Anyone got a 48k? pleassseeee?

Sadly, again its from eBay but I couldn't find any anywhere else so...
it looks clean though so fingers crossed the internals are all OK.
Good old 128k spectrum (is it an original grey model???) (apparently working but... we shall see...), Official +2 power supply, light gun and best of all in my case, a joy stick which i needed for my 48k :-D
All for... ?10!!!
Seriously some very cheap stuff on eBay if you take time to look (although in my case most of it doesn't work.... :( )
Fingers crossed...
Larger PSU with a DIN type connector is also a giveaway.

I plan to start coding for spectrums so thought these might be handy.
The joystick you have with the +2 there, is a Sinclair SJS2 model made by Amstrad. It will only work with +2 and +3 Spectrums due to Amstrad changing the wiring pinouts on the +2/3 joystick ports. They did this in an attempt to make you buy and use their own SJS joysticks with the +2/3.
However you can buy coverters that change the SJS ports to accept Atari standard joysticks. I believe fellow WoSer Fog sells them. Also many joysticks came with an extra grey plug like the Cheetah 125+ I sold you. The grey plug is wired for SJS Spectrum +2/3 so does not need a converter. The Cheetah 125+ will work with a 48K as long as you use the black plug, which is wired for Atari standard.
LMFAO so it was you who out bid me on those.
You eBay roadhog :P
Hope you enjoy them :D
morcar, I'm sorry bud haha were you after one book in specific?
not really, but i am going to start a collection of Spectrum books soon.
I found that Amazon is better than eBay for books. Go for the ex library books and keep looking as prices can vary a lot. I got most of mine for 1p plus 2.80 postage.
Wut!!! :o :???:
LOL, yeah, some are crazy but try these...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=sr_st_price-asc-rank?keywords=zx+spectrum&qid=1408958665&rh=n%3A266239%2Ck%3Azx+spectrum&sort=price-asc-rank
I see the Rom Disassembly is 2499.50 new and used. Got mine for 1.00 a couple of months back. Like I say, keep checking and you'll see the prices go up and down. When they are low grab the book.
0.01p + 2.80 postage... bargain! :D
Anyone?

There is no difference between the drive belts on grey +2, +2a and +2b. Is a seller suggesting there is a difference?
Thanks for the info I will get one ordered.
Couldn't resist... I wanted a grey +2 and this was all cheap (?25 all in) I now have a ZX81, 48k, 128k +2 and 128k +2A or B...
No more eBay for me I think...
I wonder if there are any gems inside that box of games...
Will report back when it all arrives.
