Yes a 4S. I admit I just assumed it was installable on a 4, it wouldn't be in my interests, and neither would I care to look otherwise. And "reasonably well" isn't good enough for me I'm afraid. It's still a premium phone, albeit a couple of generations old now, that worked better on an older OS. And that's just not good enough no matter how anyone cares to spin it.
You're right. If speed is your top priority, then an older iOS 6 was perfect on it.
iOS 8 (or 7) brought new functionality to it.
Such as Panorama and time-lapse photo shooting.
I'd rather wait 1-2 milliseconds longer for an app to open than sacrifice functionality.
How quaint, I've been able to do those on every Nexus phone I have ever had. Nice to see Apple crippling there just 2 year old kit with features that have been available for much longer than 2 years on Nexus phones.
You will be telling me that iPhones can't do photo sphere pictures next.

If those are the functions, I'd rather have the speed. If I wanted those photo functions, it wouldn't be with the iPhone's crappy camera.
Apple solves iPhone bend problem with launch of the ?iArse?
Following the surprising news that putting your iPhone in your back pocket and sitting on it for a few hours can cause damage, Apple today launched what it believes will be the perfect solution; a prosthetic arse which keeps the phone straight and rigid under even the most challenging of chair-related conditions.
Speaking at an in no way hastily arranged press conference at their headquarters in Cupertino, California, Apple CEO Tim Cook proudly announced, ?Our world renowned team?s sleek design means the iArse nestles snugly within our family of great products. It?s a statement. It?s a metaphor. It?s the ideal product for people who are either too busy, or just too damn cool to look after their possessions properly.?
The iArse, expected to retail at just ?239.99, comes in a range of sizes: small, medium, large, extra-large and driving instructor, and in a range of colours Apple calls ?white?. Queues are already forming at Apple stores around the globe with devotees desperate to get their hands on an iArse.
?This is our most holistic product yet,? added Cook. ?Not only does it protect your phone, it also expertly shields your butt when your friends kick it for constantly banging on about how f**king amazing Apple products are.?
Just got my iPhone 6 Plus yesterday. Its the most useful iPhone to date, with the extra screen space at Full HD, makes for great reading/surfing and apps.
You can watch movies on it quite decently (which I use when I go shopping with the wife, then I go sit in the car and wait an hour before shes finished)
The software on it is very snappy, much faster than previous models, which is a nice bonus.
However, it IS a lot larger than previous models, and will go in the inner pocket of a jacket.
Can't believe people are dumb enough to put this thing in their back pocket to begin with.
I suppose its a problem for people in Australia and California, where the temperatures are annually quite high, but here in EU/England e.t.c. where we get cold conditions, we often wear a jacket and so have a good pocket to keep it in.
Just wish Apple would stop their "thin fetish" and just make them 10mm thick and we'd get a decent battery.
The 6+ however, has standby time of 16 days which isn't bad either.

Welcome to 2010 Apple.
Sure, there feature list is perhaps a little late and lacking compared to Android thats available now.
No, it can't do photo sphere pictures at stock, but you know, since Apple invented the concept of "online store to buy apps" with their App-store, you can just find an app that does that. Same goes for panorama.
You're comparing stock apps thats available when you turn the phone on, to apps that you download from Google Play.
Why don't you be a litte more fair and compare whats available (virus free) on the Apple Store vs. Google Play store?
Then you'd quickly learn to your horror, that Panorama and other goodies were a long time ago available as app downloads.

No, those are built in when you first switch it on apps not downloaded. They are part of the base system on my Nexus and have been on every one I've had.
I had a look at the 6 and 6 plus yesterday at the local O2 shop. For me, the 6 Plus is just too big. I'll probably end up with a 6 at some point though.

Better change your avatar before you pick it up then.

Ok, thats cool :)
Keep in mind though, that Apple is just 1 company.
Android are a vast array of companies, so the output is bound to more numerous.
I guess that makes Apple even more impressive, that they're able to go against these numerous Android companies and still manage to beat the competition.
No. Android is a single company that was bought by Google. That means its still a single company. As it's released as open source many other companies add there own bits to it before launching it on there propitiatory phones but as I am sure you are aware the Nexus phones are shipped with "raw" Android so any features on a Nexus are already available (hardware permitting of course) on any Android phone.

Now I know what Steve Jobs meant by "fragmentation".
Adding bits and pieces on an open source, much like Linux, makes for a poor user experience.
But if you're happy with your Nexus, then thats all that counts :)

Swap it for a house!
