Thirty years today

Yes, 10/10/84

I got my first rubber keyed friend. :)

I can still vaguely remember the bus ride back, clutching the box along with the 'addon' pack from the Co-op.

Memory is a bit hazy but I do recall we had to swap it as it would not load from either of two tape recorders we had.

A few days later I recall seeing the horizons 'Volume Set Correctly - Please Wait' screen excitedly followed by the 'Rainbow' :)

Random pic from just now ( ! )

Congrats. Glad you can remember the exact day so well.

    Great pic, by the way!

    Thanks. :)

Said speccy has just had (last week) the usual composite mod but using a 100uf cap inline. I carefully enlarged one of the insulated holes just enough to get the long cap lead through to the board. Mod was removed / gutted and put back.

Also popped a reset switch into the case very top left of the video out too.

Still the same Speccy? That's excellent :)

Greart story and picture. You must be so pleased to have kept the same Speccy.

    Thanks all. :D Appreciated.

The case is the same the innards are not. :)

The board in that case was obtained from a very broken (key tops missing etc) and battered 48+ around the mid 90's. The board was thankfully OK.

The pic from "just now" looks like it could have well been taken in 1984, what with the blur and slightly off colour

    Yeah :o

Poor lighting and poor camera too, plus there was no one here to help me at the time so I just put the camera onto a shelf, set the timer at 5 seconds and stood back. :D Several attempts later that was the result even though I had to brighten it a bit before uploading.

Batteries were dying so I could not re-attempt it after that, had to pick the best of the ones it took to use.
