Lo Profile keyboard issue

edited November 2014 in Hardware
Works great except two keys, Caps lock produces 2 and full stop on the numeric gives an m. Anyone any ideas?

Probably a couple of dry solder joints, possibly on the keys themselves (hard to be more specific as I've never seen the inside of one of these!)

All the extra function keys that carry out an action where two keys have to be pressed together on a rubber key Spectrum must make two circuits on replacement keyboards. There are a number of ways to do this. I have also never got my hands on one of these keyboards, so as Brendan says, we can only guess...

If this is a type of membrane keyboard, it will have four layers like a Spectrum+ or 128k toast rack keyboard.
If it uses normal switches, do some have two contacts (four pins)?
If it uses normal single contact keyboard switches, is there extra electronics to do the switching?
If it uses a springy rubber dome on a PCB, do the contacts on the dome make two circuits?

    Its one of these
Reading more into it though and I think Ive found the "problem", detailed here
Could well just be normal behaviour

So, two dedicated keys that don't produce the expected result unless caps/symbol shift is also pressed? From new?

That wouldn't be annoying at all

I came across two of those keyboards, and I can confirm that this "missing shift" behaviour was present on both of them.

Mine is still in storage but from memory don't the extra keys only work if you provide 9v to the low profile keyboard and not directly to speccy?
