When I was in my school days I was listening every night before I went to sleep to the only Dire Straights tape I knew of. But my pals at school never seemed to have heard of them. :???:
Every time I hear Walk of Life by them it makes my skin crawl, I hate that song with a vengeance. It was made even worse when it was out, as I had a friend with an electric keyboard, and that was the only tune he could play on it...

100% agree. in fact I honestly came close to having full on mental spazout when my boss of the Chinese takeaway I used to work in decided to this track on one night when I was washing up. it was at the end of a really long busy shift and hearing that stupid "duh duh deerrr derrrrr, dee-dee-dee- daa daa duuuh duuuh" nearly made me flip

it's just like filling a photocopier.. but the paper is more expensive (do I get double points for the *2 memory jog ? :) )
I have a hatred for "fatback band" and I found Loving... someone brought it on school trip on tape deck..agh got that flipping song on repeat. as they had ONE tape!!!!
thank the dx7 synth for a lot of digital synthy sounds, use in a silly amount of 80's tunes.. I have one (well NI fm8 ) but it's not something I use loads, compared to say moog's etc.. which just had a far fuller sound.
when you get a synth from the 80's you get to know what tunes the default sounds were used in various tunes :)
the other classic being obherheim synth.. as used in Jump , 99 red balloons and axel f
I really think you guys are complaining about very little here.
The Jan Hammer theme is really quite good, if it hadn't been part of a TV series and therefore almost subliminal with a whole load of associations, I think it would still hold up very well. I have listened to it about five times
I was never very into the Tv show though (once the intro was over) never knew what was happening, unlike A-team and Airwolf, where I could miss an episode and not lose much of the plot.
At about 1:40 in that episode how did they manage to pull up next to themselves? That sort of thing always threw me, if I hadn't been watching for a couple of minutes.
Before I got into home computers I had for a few months a Casiotone keyboard that would have been perfect for learning with.
I seem to recall also I wanted a Fairlight around that age, thanks to Kate Bush, or was it a double bass?
Are there any other played to death pieces of music that are almost ready for re-susitation?
