No Christmas gift from WoS

edited December 2014 in Sinclair Miscellaneous
Was I the only one waiting and praying for a Christmas gift from WoS? Martijn left five weeks ago and I was really hoping for a WoS update to be revealed on Christmas

I know, maintaining such web site means a lot of work, but wouldn?t it be about time to let the people know where we stand?

I did, but I guess I missed the "next year". Still Christmas would have been the ideal time of the year.

That?s fully understandable, hope you didn?t get me wrong.

It?s just the whole situation, that creates some frustration: First no updates for months and nothing happened , only rumors, finally some clarification and an announcement, but still people have to wait. Whoever dares to ask, seems to get bashed from some sides. "Next year" is also not a very precise date, isn?t it? I hope the mods can also understand the thoughts of the WoS users, as they expect us to understand their way of working.

    He's shaved off his moustache.
He's handed it over to a competent team.

at least his moustache is in good hands

You can't allow a freshly shaved moustache into the wild unattended. That's how Nigel Mansell's eyebrows happened....

I understand the frustration from some users and I somewhat share it, it's actually been a frustrating situation for the past 2 years almost and until we get accurate clarification on WoS' future rather than hope and estimates that frustration will continue to exist I am sure. After all Martijn did say WoS belongs to all of us and so we as all of us have a right to know what is happening and where the future lies, so I get the frustration among users and why "next year" might not be warming to some.

I just want this to resolve, I've actually wanted it to resolve for months. The chat session helped a lot as it gave me a lot of understanding and acceptance. But what I don't want is us waiting another 6 more months with no progress and mods having to lock another 25 threads of Where's WoS' updates and WoS is dead, and we're right back to where we are before. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

The new server is live and active. However, there are some legacy issues such as the forums don't work without me doing some substantial recoding due to different PHP versions.

I'm currently going through code and bug fixing, and will then be contacting Martijn for some assistance with cgi scripts...

Cheers Lee, little things like this are exactly what we're after.

Yes, thanks for letting us know. I noticed that the error messages (not responding), I got over the last weeks occasionally, are gone now.
