Hi,

What do you think was the best cover art for a Spectrum game?

There were a few good designs.

Remember how Psion Flight Simulation obviously looked nothing like the game, but funny with today's tech it wouldnt be out of place!

There are probably lots of much better examples of great covers but I really liked all the covers of Durell's Big 4 compilation, especially Critical Mass and Turbo Esprit (yes I know Saboteur's cover is a copy of a movie poster)

I'm a fan of Wakelin's artwork for Imagine/Ocean. And the artist behind Mastertronic games such as Agent X and Jason's Gem (can't remember their name right now).

Yes designs way ahead of their time. Look the programs are all running on iPads.

Well, i'll point out the obvious: Ultimates covers, especially the larger boxed ones, were excellent.

The Ocean covers really impressed me back then, especially Batman, Combat School, WTSS, and Odins artwork - especially Robin of the Wood - was (is) superb...

Alfonso Azpiri made great covers for many spanish games. Abu Simbel Profanation or Camelot Warriors are good examples.

Still amuses me the ones that feature some really great designs, but so obviously coloured in with a set of O-level art Caran d'Ache coloured pencils that you can see every stroke.
