I've had a couple of canned curries that were quite nice, but there are some really awful ones out there. Tyne brand is one brand that is exceptionally good at destroying anything by putting in in a can. Their take on a canned pie is terrible, the meat is about the same standard as that EEC mince that pensioners used to get for free in the 80's

But yeah their curry in a can is rank, the beef in it is like hamburger meat from one of those things with the beans in, and the chicken has roughly the same texture. the sauce is of a lower standard than Chip Shop curry.

Most supermarkets own brand canned curry is utter filth as well, but these days they seem to have realized that selling curried dogfood is not good, and some of them have gone as far as to improve their canned slop by as much as tenfold :D

Having French onion soup with crostini.

I've taken a pic, but I can't upload it at the minute, I think photobucket is fooked as I can't use it on my phone and I can't get it to load on the PC either?

...In that case we don't believe you... :-P

Crostini is a bread-like item, right?

I kind of have a taste for cheap chicken curry after eating at a Naval base canteen that, on a Friday, would just chuck all the remaining veg and stripped chicken meat in a pot and curry it. You'd have it over chips with a scoop of beans and plenty of black pepper. ASDA's smart price stuff is about right for re-creating it; around 0.001% meat.

I've had far worse from take-aways anyway, just sour and full of gristle, though that was a Chinese take away with 'Chicken Curry' on the menu, rather than a curry house.

Some tinned meat things that are good (good to heat up and have in a giant yorkshire) are, Tesco's Ale and Dumpling Beef Stew, and surprisingly ASDA's meat-free bolognaise, which with a shot of soy sauce and a pinch of cayenne you wouldn't know has no meat and almost no fat in it.

Though really with a really nice home-made giant yorkshire you can't go far wrong with just microwaving some frozen peas in a jug then adding some beef gravy granules and topping it up from a kettle.

    Curry, rice and chips.

I didn't think anyone would be interested in seeing it. I just ate it. It was a Korma made by my loving wife a while back, I just stumbled on it in the back of the freezer. A pleasant surprise.

    Yeah, it's a new line at Morrison's!
It's those bacon medalions you get that have little or no fat on them, i like them cos i don't like fat on bacon.

I'd eat both of those saucers, though salad with gravy seems a bit odd.

We may have covered this before, but are tattie scones the same as potato cakes?

Hmm, not sure but i do know your equivalent is hash browns.
I remember at the time wondering if gravy and salad was odd but decided it would be too dry without it.

I expect you could finish the salad whilst pouring the gravy, so no harm done.
