More tips were published than are listed at The Tipshop; check the Magazine References section in the WoS entry. There should be enough there to show how to finish the game without resorting to POKEs.
I remember reading that Steve Crow based some of the houses on old cottages, and manors near his home. Great game, loved finding houses, villages. Nowhere near to completing it, though I did find the princess at least. ALways thought the chink, chink sound effect when you lose a life was pretty nifty for the spectrum speaker.
Wow, it was fnished in only thirteen minutes!!!
Impressive game, by the way.
I went tobridge in the summer last year, the owner of bubble bus was telling me about the old days. bubble bus was above an 18th century farrier / ironmongers.. and he was suprised the place was demolished / wasn't listed. so yer that bit of kent as other places has a lot of very old buildings.
Crowe always had great sound effects in his games, but that chink-chink was really something else, it was as good as a sample. Starquake is aurally magnificent too.
I've always suspected that it could be a very small sample. Could someone confirm or deny it?
I have a childhood memory of playing this game shortly after kicking a football into a neighbour's garden (she had repeatedly threatened us with calling the police). While playing Firelord I would occasionally look out of the window to see if a police car was outside. It certainly added to the tension...
WOW!
its not firelord.
Its a Thieveslord.
:)
RE: speech, yes there seems to be either speech synthesis or sampling here.
Sorry to hear that, how hard would it have been to have it listed?

One of the few games I stuck with to finish, making a rough map and a page of notes on the way.
