Best TV Theme Tunes of the 80s and late 70s
Let's continue our 80s reminiscing and extend the conversation to 80s and late 70s TV show theme Tunes.
Let me start with this one. It has to be one of my current favourites. Odd because as a kid I was not much into such shows, preferring my Spectrum, Lego or to play outside instead. It must be the excellent early80s synth sound that I like. I'm surprised it was not sampled or remixed in dance music more. In any case here it is:

My personal faves...
Miami Vice (possibly my favourite TV show ever, in case no one's gathered that yet ) had a lot of great music, but funnily enough I was never very keen on the actual main theme.
Grange Hill's gots tha funk! :-D
and also a bit obvious but the Knight Rider theme is fab
They changed it a bit and slowed it down in later series intros so the first few in the late 80s were best.
And of course The Equalizer
Pretty sure Stewart Copeland composed that music. Useless bit of pop trivia for you all. :)
Yep! The Equalizer is one of my favourites too!
Did i see a topless woman in that sequence?

Tranmere Rovers use it as their players run onto the field.
Tranmere played home games on a Friday when Rockford Files was on TV, and the joke was that you were missing something much better by being at the match
One of my earliest memories was strugling to stay awake in the evening to watch the Rockford Files. My dad had an uncanny resmblance to James Garner; and my mother and father tricked me into thinking that my dad was on TV....(looks similar to a young Merle Haggard too, who my dad used to play constantly and tell me that he , James Garner and Merle Haggard were the same person...wtf)
Surprised it wasn't in the first post ;)
:D
and this mike post theme
the simon may orchestra anyone?
how about some RAWK MUSIC (lol)
Angry Anderson (Rose Tattoo)
you old film buffs might know this one lol
and the snooker ;)
Juliet Bravo
Brookside
Alias the Jester
The Tomorrow People (British version from the 1980s)
Blake's 7 (the best TV theme tune ever, IMHO)
Blackadder 2's endings (every episode had a different ending tune, which might not sound good out of context, but after watching an episode, it was great to see a funny relevantly worded song round off the experience!). Has any other series done this?
Tales of the Unexpected (I don't think I like this at all, but it's the most memorable and haunting theme tune ever, if you only listen to one
and also the theme tune to give us a clue

I was going to say Manimal but after listening to it again it wasn't that good.
Last of the Summer Wine
Dangermouse
The Hitch-Hiker's Guide the Galaxy (TV program, not the film)
And here is episode 1 of 6 of the brilliant TV series (which is a zillion times better than the film), so watch this if you don't already have the series on DVD (the DVD, by the way, has some great extras for fans of the TV series).
Yep, glad you mentioned that as I can't find any evidence of the Grange Hill theme being used apart from my memory of it. Searching on you tube for 'Give us a glue' brings up the cheesy 'With Michael Parkinnnnsooooon!' Song thing.
