Copyright law, as it stands, is mostly unworkable, mostly uneforceable; and thankfully mostly ignored (even by those that pretend to uphold it; casting the first stone and all that).
The industries that rely on copyright laws are absolutely massive and worth many billions of dollars per year so that suggests that none of those claims are true.
The principle behind it is flawed and not fit for the digital age.
The classic publishing and distribution models struggle to keep pace with the changes in the last 15 years but copyright suits a digital world just the same as it did a paper one.
There are good arguments, and plenty of evidence, that copyright stifles creativity by limiting the exchange of ideas. Imagine if Tim Berners Lee took the selfish attitude : he gave away his idea, because he believed that good ideas are to be shared; that is the point of an idea. You are using a medium that is open to all. And this allows the exchange of ideas amongst people that have never, and would never likely have, access to these ideas.
Well ignoring the fact that you can't copyright an idea, the existence of copyright doesn't stop you giving your things away if you want to, it stops people taking things and copying them when you don't want them too.
So what if Berners Lee had been selfish? Well he could have just not told anyone about his idea or shown his software to anyone anyway. :p

Thankfully that's not anywhere near true, otherwise I'd have no business, and my copyright solicitor would be poor.
This is getting out of hand. just ban weesam as he is becoming annoying. He seems to want to argue with anyone about anything, this is a forum, not an argument website.

No I disagree with that ! This IS an arguing site, or am I just contradicting you ? By the way, is this a five minute argument, or did you pay for the full 10 ? ;)
Every time I read that the oldest person in the world has died, I have to do a quick check to see it isn't ME..........

That's not a good enough reason to ban someone or WoS would soon be empty :)
You have to wait for him to break the rules properly, then descend on him like elite viper ships or whatever it was :)

He can argue all he likes as long is he's respectful to other posters and doesn't resort to name-calling.
He received a warning for that and has quite obviously heeded that warning and backed off.
If I banned everybody that annoyed me then there'd only be me and Guesser left here.

was the re occurrence ratio of this thread, every 1 or 2 years ?
I do get both sides of the dev's and gamer. it's not so different from music / mp3 etc, really. Feel it's more so to do with IP than any spectrum stuff, well unless it's being emulated.

That's nothing to do with copyright. You should campaign for stronger privacy laws.

Yes it is... :)
EDIT: damn, grey key beat me to it :)
Apple know exactly what you can and can't copyright, they aren't daft. :)

I read that first part and thought WTF? He must have finally gone completely senile ;)
Yeah, just blown out 51 candles, feeling a bit light headed.
No he didn't!
I take it nobody could find the rest of the candles then?
Oh my aching sides...
That'll be the dodgy hip replacements...
Enjoying the show? Popcorn must be running low though. Another bag? :D
It's ok, feels like I've seen it before though, and it's got that baddie that no-one likes in it. More popcorn? Yes please. Salted. :-)
