SAMPLES for Sample-Tracker (GIANTIC pack)

Hi,

Adrdesign from Spain made ENORMOUS work and converted all the samples from classic synth Fairlight CMI into ZX Spectrum's format that You can use it on SampleTracker 2.0.

He wrote on the CM forum: "And again, all the samples have been converted to .tap for easy use with SampleTracker. There is no redundant data to save memory. Hope you like it!"

    Wow this is great work.

It took me a little while to figure out how to try it.  The samples don't work with SampleTracker3T, only SampleTracker2.0:

    http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0018899

Load that up in USR 0 mode then drag one of the sample taps to the window and select load sample.

To hear a sample, click EDIT (qaop moves cursor) and type some 'piano' keys like z,x,c to generate notes.  The notes will sound as you type them.  You can move up and down in the tracker with caps 6+7.  To get out of edit, click stop and then play to hear the notes entered.  I noticed you need to hold down a note to hear the entire sample play out otherwise you just hear the beginning.  And I guess because you did not resample at a lower rate you need to play at a higher octave to sound more like it was intended.

Do you have these things available as raw binaries?  That might be useful too.

Sorry but my english is poor. I presume you are asking for the original data from disc. The full library is 8-bit 14080hz so no resampling is needed (SampleTracker standard=16000hz).

For previewing purposes, I give you the XI version here (works on most trackers):

    Fairlight CMI XI

Moreover, I created a pack with all the files needed to batch process to .tap, including SampleTracker2d and 3T turbo loading version (WAV) and Wavosaur sample editor portable.

    DOWNLOAD HERE
and download JAVA 1.6 (needed to work)

    METHOD:

Just put your samples in a folder inside SampleTrackerToolchain/

Open CMD at SampleTrackerToolchain/ and type

    CONVERT.BAT <folder name>

All samples converted will be in ZX_<folder name>

  • Ah, and changing octaves is made by keys 1,2,3 (probably rather in the EDIT mode).
