Gunfright Disassembly

edited June 2015 in Development
Here is my disassembly of Gunfright originally published by Ultimate Play The Game in 1986.

Again, I used @clausjahn's ZX Preview (run in OS X using Wine) to create the various disassembly files.

Regards,
Derek.

  • Nice work...!

Can someone give me an non-techy, idiot's guide to how I can read it..?

    I've think I've been too mollycoddled with Skookit's easy-to-read HTML output... ;)

  • I could use some explanation too.

There are 50 files or so by which one is the proper one, containing all the code and comments?

The proper file is the only one with the .ASM extension (gunfright-tap.asm).

It's pretty useless though. Yes, it IS a disassembly...but it's not commented in any way.

LOL, I was thinking that but not going to say it!!

I was expecting to see comments and labels to help explain what is going on, the disassembly isn't much different to what Spud's Disassembly To File feature will produce.

I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...
  • Ah I see - I was wondering how people managed to release disassemblies so quickly...

I thought the average game disassembly time was somewhere between 2 and 30 years...

    Fair point.

I will run the resulting .tap files through the latest version
of Skoolkit and add this to the posts.

    Here is an example gunfright-skoolkit.zip

Please note that as the code in the original .tap file is byte scrambled, if Skoolkit (or similar) were run over the original .tap it would only produce nonsense.

    Regards,
    Derek.
