Makin' Whoopee

edited June 2005 in Games
I was browsing through the WoS archive and stumbled over the Danger Mouse series of games. The third installment baffles me a wee bit ... is the name of the game "Making Whoopee" or is it "Makin' Whoopee" ???

Everything points to the former ... the inlay, reviews etc, etc ...

but

once the game has loaded one is greeted with a menu where the name of the game is apparently "Makin' Whoopee" ... is it something the programmer decided to do just to annoy those anal rentive bastards like me or was the game supposed to be called one rather than the other?

*Argh!*

No sleep for me tonight :(

Reminds me of the reason why "Continental Circus" was so named.

(A phone call was made to the people who made the arcade cabinets requesting a racing game called Continental Circuits. When they were delivered, it said Continental Circus, so they had to rename the game.)

    Was this rumour actually true?

I doubt it was copywrite. More likely some big wig at the publisher thought it was better to have 'Making' and never informed the author, or never gave time to fix, or no one could be bothered.

We may never know. I doubt if you asked someone who was there at the time that even they'd know.

Scary ain't it, not knowing something.

Surely that was just an example of good old Your Sinclair's zany sense of humour?

It was definitely 'Making Whoopee', not 'Makin' Whoopee'

I found this game in my collection when I moved house recently, forgot I had it. Danger Mouse in Double Trouble was much better though.

    ...

Yeah ... but why does it say "Makin' Whoopee" at the start of the game then?

That's the thing - I don't remember reading it in YS or I'd have agreed with you. It could have been either SU or Crash though.
