Is there any way to stop youtube playing bloody adverts half way through albums (and sometimes halfway through a song!). It breaks the atmosphere of the song and annoys me.
The ads are getting very annoying on youtube, especially the ones that don't have the skip this ad in 5 seconds thing on them. I can understand them being on music videos, but when they're at the start of a vid that was posted by somebody in their bedroom talking about games it's quite annoying. Especially when it's every single time you click a vid now.
Will say though the only time I've ever got an ad playing in the middle of something is if I've paused it, and gone back to it later on. Usually happens right at the start and/or the end otherwise.
No, there are no such things as ad blockers for youtube, especially on some browsers. Only on PCs, with Firefox, for example, there exist add-ons that block them. For example, install AdBlock Plus (remember to check that you want to block everything), then you can block all youtube ads.
Afterwards look for add-ons that can download youtube files and play them offline (absolutely unavailable on chrome), and stylish to improve the look of this site.
I find some browsers are worse than others. Using my Windows 8.1 desktop PC and Chrome, the adverts are everywhere! A lot of them are unskippable too. On my Windows 7 laptop, they're not so bad. On my Kindle, they're almost nonexistent via the browser, but play after a video in the app and on my PS4/Xbox One, sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't.
I tend to avoid YouTube when I'm on my desktop now and I'll also avoid channels that spam too many adverts. I watched one video the other day that had a ton of them. Annotations, popups and pausing mid video for an unskippable advert. I noticed the red bar had a load of yellow dots coming up, so I just stopped watching and made a mental note to avoid his channel in future.
It's the same with some websites too. I know adverts help pay for things, but when they intrude too much and reading the actual web page (videos that open up between text lines when you get to them are a special pain in the arse for me!), then I just tend to avoid that page if I can. Annoyingly, my local newspaper's website is one of those :(

I think it's a Firefox only extension, but the QuickJava add-on lets you switch javascript and flash on and off on the fly which might stop all those popups.
Most of them adds are effing awfull. Recently I've been getting blanket adds for Atlassian's Hip Chat that has Lumburgh from the film Office Space in. They are quite funny and often all too true. Before that I had to put up with wall to wall day after day extreme right wing politics bashing everything and anyone Democrat especially Senator Kay Hagan, Obama, and Obama Care and extolling the virtues and freedoms of Gun Ownership that the democrats want to steel.
The only useful one I have ever gotten was from a local Pest Controller who I intend to call soon.
what I hate is when I want to listen to a particular track on YT and theres an ad before it with music that totally kills the anticipation to hear the track. like clicking on a slayer vid and having to endure a 30 second toys-r-us jingle first
I've just had an advert (kind of) on Netflix. I selected what I wanted to watch and a trailer for another film started with a "your video will start in 30 seconds" thing. It wasn't even close to matching what I've watched either (I'm not a chick flick person)
They also ruined the end of Insidious for me too :( The solidly second the story ended, it popped to a full screen still for another "recommendation" and killed the end of it for me! They didn't even wait for the credits to start :(
If you use the youtube plugin/script in Kodi (formerly XBMC) it shows nothing but the video thumbnails and title for your search. I tend to browse YT this way on my PI2 and best of all no ads whatsoever. You can even sign in to your own channel and see your subscribed channels and any new vids that have been uploaded for them.
I tend to add a load of vids to watch later via pc and then just sign in on the pi and watch them ad free later.
On PC i think Firefox with Adblock PLus is probably your best bet

I'm still a bit annoyed by that :))
Ah, Channel 4 do similair with their "Next.. more Big Bang Theory" banner 15 seconds before the end credits... and ITV... and BBC and "next week" spoilers, and talking over and squashing the end credits... plinky plonky music, mumbling presenters, dark screens, zoomy in/out drunken swinging and swaying camera operators...... I can rant about this all day.
Is that the "Why do they have to have it so dark in programs nowadays? I can't see what's going on! Why in my day!" rant? That one gets right on my tits especially when it comes from people who have literally been alive for as long as electronic broadcast television has existed in this country.
Okay, so what about DOGs? Anyone 'round here like them? Think they are useful? Or do you hate them like me?
And no I am not talking about the animal that has four legs and is said to be mans best friend.

Same here. Haven't seen an ad anywhere in years.
