This just looks amazing! :-O
It almost makes me want to cry to see these amazing graphics on a humble old Speccy. =P~
I've been very impressed with other recent games using multicolour engines, but they're mostly fairly static, or are puzzle games. To see this variety of colourful, imaginative sprites flying about smoothly like this in a shoot-em-up is hard to believe.
Yeah it's been months now, and I still like playing this, like I say Mr. Dave has worked wonders to make me like a shmup this much. When I think of my fave shmups and there aren't many really (like I said earlier on not a big shmup fan), this may just may end up ranking in my top 5 horizontal shmups ever (I know this is just my personal preference, but that puts it into competition with Arcade, Megadrive, and PS1 titles).
I'll be brutally honest though if you count rail, and fixed screen shooters that places it below my top 10, but in my top 20 :D
Vertical scrolling shooters I don't bother with too much think I like about 3 of them =))
Hi Dave, I finally got to play the latest version of your Stormfinch shooter. I am glad to see you have improved it to the extent that now it does feel more like a 'real' game, rather than a proof of concept like the first attempt (well, at least I thought so). Well done.
Yes I can do that (in fact I'll start to include joysticks in all my new games in future). You would need an extra key to rotate the spore, which key would you prefer? The space bar?

I downloaded this along with other games... and damn me ! I forgot to try it. Now I'm loving it - especially that it's a bit different every time - that makes it really addictive rather than 'I can't be arsed to play through that fist bit again'! ... which is something many many Speccy games suffer from. A great shooter, cheers!

What a fantastic effort!

Andrew's hack pack (damn you Ryals!) reminded me I never made the tiles available. The source code is a bit messy so I'm not going to share that.

And there's more...

Do you mean the turboloader version? That's TZX only I think, I don't have access to TZX2TAP right now & I don't know if it would work in this case.
But the latest version of the game is a TAP in the first post this thread, it just has the standard loader.

Download here (snapshot).
Sorry it's the 'enter' key to rotate the spore, if you want space just POKE 43746,127.
Thanks for playing :-)
I'll try that poke later :)
