Toaster grey screen

Iv just fired up my toaster and it has a grey screen. I can still see the menu which still works ok. It looks as if someone has painted the front of the telly in a diluted grey colour. Any idea's please whats wrong please??

If you have a multimeter, check the voltage on pin 11 of the TEA2000 chip, this should be 12v. Anything lower indicates a potential fault with TR8/TR9, the coil or other components that generate the +12v rail the TEA2000 needs to produce a colour composite signal.

Sorry for the delay. When its switched the heat sink doesnt even get warm.

It looks like after 10 minutes when I checked again the heat sink is getting warm. But no were near what it did befor. Perhaps its because not a lot of power is being used to run a game or whatever. Anyway. I cant find the tr8/tr9 on the board.

Okay, where did Balford ask about the heatsink?
Balford means TR4 and TR5 transistors. They are at the L shaped corner where the right hand case leg is, just next to the coil.

But in order to help you, it would be handy to know if the +12V line is actually at or near +12V. If you don't fancy testing on the TEA2000 chip, test the +12V line on the edge-connector (just be careful you don't slip).

The heatsink is large, so it takes a while to warm up.
