of course with 24x16 sprites you can go up to 6 colors...which i did in "Hop n frog" (for example the missiles i believ have 5 or 6 colors)
in this game i almost completely eliminate the staining of the backdrop by shifting a further spriteink 16 pixels away to the right of my sprites (does that makes sense to you?)
so that this last spriteink would be o the same color (cyan) of the ink in the backdrop tiles
one last thing: you can even go more sophisticate by defining different colors in different frames: in Popeye (lev 1) i did that so that when olive raises her hand, that part of the sprite is pink, then it becomes blue (to have the lining of the hair)
the other problem with all this is that it takes a lot of memory...
and of course your sprites will have to move 8 pixels at the time (to reduce speed i use a counter

I don' t know how to beat the big green cockatoo nor the twitter from this level
I mean the cockatoo does not react to my farts and I cannot jump up to the height of the eggs bombarder. This must be a puzzle level or something escapes my neuron arms
