Buying the anual Christmas Crap!!
I like Christmas but one thing I hate is buying all the small gifts for the various small gifts for those not in the immediate family and for the various secret Santas. The problem is I find it hard to bring myself to buy that crap. I know its not going to be loved, and is just a waste of my money, the worlds resources and the time taken to get it. My problem is I find a possible gift and I'm like nah that sh!t, I would not want to receive that. I can spend three hours looking for such gifts but often walk out with nothing shaking my head at all the crap selfie sticks, naff chocolates, smelly candles and the like.
This year I was told the secret santa gifts should cost no more than $5. That made it even harder. I was tempted to go to a car boot sale (flea market in the USA) and pick up a clean used laser printer, old games console or something at least of more use.

I wait for the day that we can recycle this stuff 100% without carbon waste, then we can all have stockings full of these plasticy bits that don't pass into the food chain.
This year we have avoided that sort of thing. We went for the Something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read approach. A bit girly but it works some what.

Alcohol, everyone loves that, those that don't drink can re-gift it.
Those boxes of wine are a no brainer, square (no nerds needed to point out it's not really square) too so easy to wrap.

Well they can grind the bottles up, mix them with tar and use them to resurface roads but it's a pretty expensive way to produce hardcore :)
Clear glass is use to make, err, more clear glass.

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb!
Looking forward to summer in Somerset later in the year :)

Secret Santa presents in the workplace are fine, you can buy something rude/crap because nobody knows who they're from. I bought a bong once.
But what did you buy for the Secret Santa? ;)

Some crack.
We purposely went back to a milkman for that reason many years ago, only to be insulted by a large 4 pint plastic bottle. Gah!
The last two we have had lately have leaked at the seal in the handle. Very dodgy bottles they have been. However I do believe the soggy squishy plastic used these days is slightly more recyclable that the old touch plastic bottles, so its a small price to pay. Would still prefer no plastic.
