ZX80 History

Hi
Anyone know if there were different versions of the zx80.
There is an auction in New Zealand for a pre-release ZX80, that was released to the "industry" prior to public.
The seller refuses to post a picture or proof of the pre-release version.
Anyone know anything about this?

The seller's attitude to auctions leaves a lot to be desired.

If this was the great machine he claimed, he'd have surey written a better description, and posted some better pictures, instead of giving rude answers to quite reasonable questions.

I cant believe he refuses to give you any pictures. I would stayaway, with 4 hours left no ones bid on it and his starting price of $749 is ridiculous. If it was this amazing rare item he said a lot of people would bid on it if the price was lower.

I presume once this auction ends he'll lower the price and try again

With the sellers respect for his buyers I think this should be treated with a long barge pole.

If I was in NZ I might be tempted by this if for no other reason than to sue the seller for misrepresentation when a bog standard machine turns up.

If I lived in Lower Hutt, I'd move to Upper Hutt.

    Sounds like a real tw*t. i

Even before the reasonable questions are not answered. The auction doesn't look genuine.

No honest seller would insist on bids before answering questions. Hope it costs him to list and nobody buys.

I suspect the winner will get an empty case the corner of a manual and a dodgy powerpack.

Why take a picture of just the powerpack anyway????

This is of course my own opinion and not meant to be in any way libellous :) I could just be paranoid and this could be the ZX80 that changes history be being released a couple of years before the ZX80 we know, love and use to keep the kitchen door open with. It was after all the perfect shape.

If I owned a truly rare ZX80 prototype and decided to auction it, I would take numerous photos of every little detail of the machine and provide them to anyone that asked to see them.
No collector in their right mind is going to bid that much money if the idiotic seller can't even provide a single decent picture of the item itself! Very dubious.

If it's new and unused then why is the powerpack scratched???

    Skarpo
    :)
  • Probably just a dodgy home build jobbie,
I would'nt be interested if lived in a castle made of gold.

Can't seem to focus on the picture. Can't tell if it is scratched or not.

NE1 got a fake ebay id?

thanks guys for looking at this.
If anyone wants to ask questions and take
the *iss out of the guy, feel free :)

BTW, this auction is NZ$ so it is about 300 pounds. If genuine probably not too bad a price!

    But what an a***hole!

Sorry to bump the post up, but that guy is in need of help. Just the craziest fool I've seen in a long time. Look at the way he refuses to take more pics; like a robber being asked to put down a gun and give himself up!

I've never seen such a first-class numpty. I couldn't even comprehend the strange language he was talking anyway - nothing he said made any sense. He obviously thinks he's very important.....

I bet most of the views were just the same people looking to see what funny reply he came up with next. I thought it was highly amusing. Would love to know what it was and like one of the questioners on his item if i had loadsamoney i would have bid just to see what rubbish he sent me :)

People like that do fascinate me actually. I mean hes selling something, people want pictures of it as its worth a bit of money yet he doesnt want to take any and comes up with weird replies for all the questions, would love to ask him why ?!

Its like that welsh guy selling a Spectrum which was 'ultra rare' for 500 quid and not showing a photo or anything with it. Why firstly did he think and write in the description it was worth between 500 and 1000 quid and did he really think without a photo someone on this planet would buy it ??!

I mean yeah hes being a greedy bloke, that i understand but did this nonce really think someone would fork out that amount of money without seeing a photo or that ? Some people just astound me
