Jean Michael Jarre's latest Album Electronica which is an album of collaborations. Each track is with a different electronic music artist including: Boys Noize, M83, Air, Vince Clarke, Little Boots, F*ck buttons, Moby, Gsaffelstein, Pete Townsend, Tangerine Dream, Laurie Anderson, Armin Van Buuren, Massice Attack (3D), John Carpenter and Lang Lang.
Loving it so far. I'm sat perfectly between two oversized Polk bookself speakers on my desk. The there is a great combination of shimmering high frequency's, with lush synth mid tones, and very nicely produced tight and deep bass which you can sometimes feel just before you hear, and sometimes the other way round. I love how with all this going on it does not overstep the speaker's capabilities with all musical components cleanly descernable all with somthing to add to the overall sound. In typical JMJarre form it's synth but generally melodic, multifacited and bubbling all the way though.
I listened to the album on you-tube before buying the CD The CD definitely sounds better and that's with listening on my PC and not my Hifi. I simply love the collaborations with M83, Vince Clarke and Armin Van Bruuen. It's now on it's second spin tonight.
motorhead - welcome to the bear trap. thanks to some yorkshire **** edit - the censored word there begins with 'b', just thought I'd point that out. and not 'c' for example :)
I Got Mine sounds like one of grant hart's early husker du tunes. never knew the 'head got that poppy... (well I should do since I used to have this comp, been over half my lifetime since I last heard it though)...

Listening to some Bowie - just finished Low (first time I've heard it all the way through) and now on Hunky Dory (which I had on tape 20-odd years ago but haven't heard for yonks)

It shouldn't take the death of an artist to make us dig out and listen to their albums, but we do.
Last week I was on a Motorhead trip and this week I've been listening to Bowie's Berlin trilogy.
4t or 5th time Ive tried to get into this and each time I can only manage about 1 and a half tracks... its not horrible but just mediocre imo. really wanted to like it :(

Interesting, I've not heard it but all reports I've seen really rate it.
I don't rate Maiden at all tbh, I like about 4 songs across their entire career, and even then they feel more like a guilty pleasure than songs I genuinely like :D

can't speak for anyone else but IMO bruce's voice is not really there any more (except for on the title track where he sounds great for some reason) and nearly every single track sounds like an inferior re-hash of something they've done at least once before. also the production is a horrible mess and way too loud/harsh, even for metal...

Audioslave or as I like to call them Rage Against the Garden!
Love this stuff :)

See for yourself, these two are very reminiscent of late 90's trance/dance music.
In the words of a Darling brother, it's 'Absolutely Brilliant!' :)
That used to be one of the few songs the radio at work plays that I quite like, I'd feel kind of bad now doing my usual sing along to it.
Instead of let's dance I usually sing along changing the words to "Wet Pants".. :D

Check out more on youtube, he really is quite good. I love "Lowdown" and "What Can I Say" which is also on that Album.
