I am looking for a particular game

Hi all,

Could you please help me with search of spectrum game with core gameplay: shoot flying saucers...
10000+ game in archive I can not sort out on snaphots...

I played that pame when I was really child but remembered that at first you just shoot simple dashes, that oval flying saucers are appeared, after tham rectangular flagships... What were next I don't remember.

  • Unfortunately, "shooting flying saucers" was the subject for nearly every second game released from 1982 onwards ;)

Do you know roughly how old you were? Then you could at least use the advanced search to filter by release year and genre - might narrow it down a bit.

Everyone has a crap game inside them, let yours out!
  • hm) good question... It was about 1995... but the game could be released ten years before)
  • Is it Jetpac, or Lunar Jetman? If not, then you'll have to provide more details, I'm afraid.

For example, was the game set on one screen, or did it scroll, or did the screen change over time? Could you shoot up and down, or left and right, etc? Did you control a man, a speaceship, a robot, a tank, etc?
  • Draw a picture of what you remember, score lines, aliens, what type of thing you controlled (man, space ship etc) and upload it then link it here.
  • Attack From Mars?

    Hi, thank you for guesswork)

I spent few hours to review archive and found it: http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0004828

I was not easy because the website is not displayed snapshots... So, I copied name for each game and performed search by google... it was a hell)

  • Actually, thats one thing that always puzzled me. The aliens in Jetpac were imaginative and each screen with the different sprites and attack patterns was interesting. Then in Lunar Jetman they were just vague spinning planks and cart wheels moving in straight lines. Its almost as though LJ was written first but then held back for a year. But, then, what sort of business would do that?

I was just about to suggest that one... ;)

Just kidding, glad you found it, otherwise this could have been the longest 'guess the game' thread in history... :P
  • ohhh yeap!

I played it more that 15 years ago... I don't remember anything else... except described)
  • I got that game free with a magazine, I'm pretty sure a lot of others on here did as well. I think it was the December 1989 YS if I'm not mistaken?

  • You make me feel old :p

The year you were born I was underage drinking and trying several things I "shouldn't" for the first time...

But hey there's no shame in being a young un', It's always good to know younger people are interested in the Speccy :)
