Bump - Most informative thread ever! (MLV = mass loaded vinyl)
I've bought a job lot of this. My plan was to install it over the Easter weekend to soundproof a couple of rooms, including my study/games room.
Maundy Thursday - did a bit, pulled down the old wardrobe
Good Friday - filled in holes with plaster and expanding foam, tried to put vinyl on wall but it's too heavy to handle in big bits,
Easter Saturday - nearly broke my foot on massive sheet of fibreboard. Realised it's too big to fit upstairs.
Easter Sunday - fannied around wondering what to do. House looks like a building site, sleeping on sofa bed downstairs.
Easter Monday - decided I'm not a DIY guru and I should call in a joiner. Getting estimates now.
But the mass loaded vinyl looks like it will be an effective sound damper, I think it has to be part of a stud wall though, not enough mass or thickness to remove all sound on its own.

I was suffering with a bad cold/cough so spend most of the time lazing around on the couch watching films and feeling sorry for myself.

FM12? Is that over Steam? Or just a standalone version of FM12? Might have to acquire it, ;)
