Anyone going to see Oasis next weekend?

I am, at Milton Keynes, but only by chance really since my brother ended up with a few spare tickets.

Now then, the real reason for my posting this topic...

Well at least you put a decent starting price.

Just come back from seeing them at Manchester, brilliant it was. I heard Liams voice was going bad the last year or two but it seemed back to normal on saturday night.

Had to wait 30 mins with the band on stage because a safety barrier broke, thankfully not hit with pints of piss but about 5 pints of lager so did alright there.

Excellent set, brilliant night, still knackered and my body aches from standing and getting hammered all weekend.

I'm really looking forward to going. As you can tell, it wasn't planned and I wasn't going until this weekend and the ticket debacle happened.

My dad has listed the auction, as I'm not home to do it. But in all seriousness if anyone wants the tickets and wants to make an offer, please do so and I'll get him to pull the auction.

Cancel that! My dad has just sold the remaining two tickets.

Well i'm excited as this saturday Ch4 are showing the saturday show from Manchester which i went to so thats gonna be great to tape.

Thankfully it didnt even rain up there either, then how good does it get ! On the way back into Manchester we saw Jon Tickle of Big Brother fame ! Seriously my mates spotted him and we all laughed as some fat frumpy saddos were chatting to him thinking he was so famous.

I'd no sooner want to see Oasis as I would put my John Thomas in the hands of a madman with a pair of sissors.

    *cough*Ride

Hey Ride were pretty good !

Anyway as for Andy Bell leaving Hurricane #1 (who had one or two hits) and then joining Oasis you cant blame him !!! Just has to tour with them for a few years and hes set up for life, if not hes just a guitarist with a once decent group struggling.

Its like if someone offered you a good bit of money to join Microsoft, whatever your feelings you probably would !

Well I really like Ride (Nowhere is a fantastic album and Today Forever is one of their best EPs) and I quite liked Hurricane #1 as well (the two singles I bought were good) but I was disappointed when I heard Andy Bell joined Oasis. I can't stand Oasis, Liam Gallagher is just a talentless attention-seeker with no actual musical ability. Don't mind Noel though (the songs he did with the Chemical Brothers are excellent).

On the other hand, when I heard that both Mani and Kevin Shields had joined Primal Scream I was overjoyed. Both of them really added so much to the band.

Maybe one day we'll finally get to hear the follow-up to My Bloody Valentine's Loveless, an album that's probably more eagerly awaited that Brian Wilson's Smile was. :)

    Necros.

See not saying i'm right or wrong but its quite bad when peoples views are like that.

I wouldnt say Liam is talentless at all. As i've said before i rate any musician who can sing live/perform live/play instruments or write their own stuff.

Thats why i think Robbie Williams is a complete tosser, just a 'pretty' boyband member who got some good songs written for him.

Noel of course is the talent in Oasis but saying Liam has no musicial ability !! Come on bit far fetched that.

A lot of people hate Oasis because Liams a twat, i must admit if one moment i'm on the dole or earning no money and a year later i'm a millionaire, having any girl i want, buying anything i want, adored by fans i would become a tosser for sure !! If Liam was Cliff Richard or Will Young i couldnt stand him.

At the end of the day they write their own music, perform it live (SO many concerts over the years and gigs) whereas so many pop groups cant do either. Robbie Williams doesnt write anything, sometimes hes given co-credits for the songs (yeah like he wrote them) but he doesnt organise the music or play any instruments etc. He is a good entertainer but just like so many other boybands/girl bands hes just a good looking figurehead given some good songs.

Hes depressed because he knows deep down he would rather have 50,000 proper fans instead of mostly girls who fancy him and dont give a monkeys whether he sings ba ba black sheep or not.

Any band who write and perform their own music live i rate. Its good theres a mini boom at the moment with Kasabian, Coldplay and many others. Robbie Williams compared to any of these bands is nothing.

A few of my friends hate Oasis but love Ride, Stone Roses and the Charlatans (another great group). If the Charlatans had made it huge with number 1's etc and were in papers week after week then they would probably turn off them as they were mainstream and not their own cool little underground band which some people seem to prefer.

I loved the britpop era of the 90's and its great to see a lot of good bands right now. Give me Oasis/Blur/Coldplay/Kasabian over any crap like Robbie Williams/Rachel Stevens/Ronan etc.

I don't hate Oasis because they're successful. I just don't think much of their songs or their attitude. If a song I liked got to number one in the charts that wouldn't automatically turn me off it. Gary Jules' version of Mad World for instance got to the top of the charts which is a rare achievement these days.

Now The Charlatans I do like.

Oasis aren't bad - just that I thought a lot of their earlier stuff sounded, well... identical (Heathen I hear you cry).

I did hospital radio for quite a number of years and one year (when Definitely Maybe first came out), we did a Top 101 songs of the year on Boxing Day. I did the last 60 songs and had to keep checking the Definitely Maybe track listing to make sure I wasn't playing the same song over and over again...

I could have seen Oasis live back in 1994, when 'Supersonic' was out. Me and my mates used to go to Middlesbrough Areana evey Friday and they were the live act booked for that week.

When they came on stage, we dismissed them as a Charlatans copy-band without hearing a note. So we went downstairs to listen to some Acid Jazz.

    Oh dear!

I think Oasis are past their peak creatively - Their new album is a bit patchy and they seem to be wearing their influences more obviously (ripping off Velvet Underground and Oasis quite blatantly).

I did used to be a fan and bought all their early singles and albums on vinyl. But since 'Be Here Now' I don't think they have produced anything memorable.
