Gotek floppy on the +3

I just managed to get a Gotek floppy emulator flashed with the latest HxC firmware, but I cannot get it to work as drive "B:" on one of my +3 Spectrums. Did anyone try the same and can give some more feedback on jumper and other configuration settings?

  • Try moving the jumper to S1 or S0
  • Hi Schombi,

does this Gotek with HxC Firmware works with .HFE-Files on the USB-Stick ?
  • Does it work in ANY of your +3? Or does it work in ANY computer?

Is your cable properly wired (it needs a jumper between /RDY and GND)? Keep in mind that Amstrad connector is backwards, so you must connect the cable accordingly (put the red wire away from pin 1 on the floppy drive). This paragraph means: do your cable work with standard floppy drives?

Is your Gotek properly flashed? Does your Gotek support 720k disks?
    I was there, too
An' you know what they said?
Well, some of it was true!
  • The Gotek should be able to generate a !READY signal. The manual I've found suggests that for that you need to place a jumper on the "JA" jumper position.
I believe you'll also need the "S1" jumper set to configure it as drive 1. No idea what the other jumpers do. you might need the "MO" one too.

As Zup says, beware of the rotated connector. So long as your egde connector has no polarising key you can just plug that in upside down.
