Collectables
I bought these a couple of days ago for £15 from a little shop down the road:
Systema - Three Action Games In One Pack - 1301ARG

Pretty sure it's a good price, or potentially a bit of a bargain. Looking online, I can't find much information about these items, and I reckon they're probably quite rare. Pretty sure they're worth at least £10, especially as they have the box and manual included. The box is slightly tatty, but the games look like they've never been played (I wonder why? :-?). I would have happily paid £5 for just the one without the packaging, personally. What are people's opinions on the possible value? After a Google search, I managed to find out that it retailed for about £10 back in 2002, probably around a time when LCD games were dwindling in popularity, I would imagine.
Also, I thought it would be interesting to start a thread about odd collectables, particularly video game hardware and software, but can be anything really; no strict rules.

Did find them quite interesting though, found them at the Jungle Jim's in Ohio back in about October last year. Just had to have them, obviously I've not drank them, and probably won't because me and energy drinks don't get on too well these days.
Makes me feel twitchy :))
Eg: Jack The Nipper, and
Auf Wedersehen Monty badges.
Always wished there were JSW / MM character / sprite badges - different coloured backgrounds, with a specific JSW / MM character, for example.
I would have collected then all! :D
I guess I can just design my own now, and get them made by a company...

anyone here actually got or used an 8 track cartridge music player thingy?
One of my ex managers told me he got an 8 track for his car and drove home to Liverpool where it was pinched whilst he slept at his parents house.
Retro computing is an unusual collectors thing in that a buyer quite often wont care that the item is not "mint". Toy cars with box are a lot more valuable than without for instance. In retro computing it seems more important that the item works or could be easily fixed. The pleasure of owning a retro computer collection seems to be in using the collection. For other things, it is merely looking at the collection.
Value of these items? No idea! Sit on them for a bit and watch what happens on ebay is probably the best advice.
me neither in fact never seen one at all so here's an original one

looks like the kind of thing someone would use to send a shipping forecast across the atlantic with.
apparently there was another old gadget called a 'disc burger' which was designed to play vinyl records in cars. can't find any info pon net but Ive definitely read about them....
The tape cassette was like a brick though.
The tapes I eventually binned could have been worth something now though.
The record player was made by Phillips (Mignon) and was only fitted to high end motors over here but was pretty big in the states.
Surprised that can work. It would have to be stabilised somehow, maybe with a load of extremely well calibrated pistons in lots of different directions? That's the only way I could imagine that working.
I guess that's the best thing to do. I'm convinced I've not made a loss with these. This item looks similar and the seller is trying to get £40 for them: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-3-Action-Games-In-1-Pack-Pinball-Dino-war-Car-Racing-By-Systema-Job-Lot-/252432428442?hash=item3ac6252d9a:g:LRsAAOSwUV9WnB16.
How does that thing work?!
couldn't help reading that in Jeremy Clarkson's voice :)
Lke it :))
A bit of info on both here..

And here..

This comment at the end of the Wiki answers the how did it work bit I think..
" standard 7" records had their grooves worn down rapidly by the high stylus pressure used to prevent skipping."
A bit more on 8 track.
