didn't he or someone to do with the show destroy the puppets so they couldn't do any more ?
I guess urban hype (trip to trumpton) won't be playing.. the 2nd have of that song, I thought was a totally different tune, as I heard it in a few mixes and didn't know what it was.
the anim in Life on Mars based on it was funny, wasn't sure if it reference to the bowie song
RIP, these were part of my childhood, as for millions of others.
Which was which though? There was Chigley, Trumpton, and Camblewick Green, but which one, for example, started with someone coming up out of a box (as in Life on Mars, as Fog says)? Which one had Windy Miller, who you always wanted to see get hit by the windmill's propellor (or whatever it's called)? Which one had the fireman, the train (wasn't it a Lord who drove the train?), the factory, etc?
Coming out of the box I think was Camblewick.
The lord who drove the train was Chigley, they all came out of the factory at the end for a dance.
I think Windy Miller was Camblewick.
Trumpton was the town centre with the flower girl, the dogs that were all welded together and the fire engine.
RIP, these were part of my childhood, as for millions of others.

RIP anyway
Its true about the puppets and scenery being burned but according to this interview to Fred Harris in 1995, he'd had them at his home for some time after the last series Chigley had been made and I think it was just a clear out, although Brian Cant, the narrator says that Murray indeed didn't want them being reused.
The Life on Mars piece was brilliant, just brilliant!!
RIP, I can only echo the sentiments about Camberwick Green & Trumpton being a part of my childhood, some of my earliest memories are of watching them.
One of the things I did not long after my son was born back in '06 was to source a DVD of Camberwick Green & Trumpton, along with Bagpuss, and sit with my son and watch them with him as I thought, and still do, that the gentleness of those programs did so much more for him than the attention grabbing, corporate branded stuff designed to sell merchandise. He always used to laugh at the soldiers and the music when they went on parade.
And I do have that Trip To Trumpton record.. the b-side was minus the samples and got pretty good rotation by Dr. S Gachet at the time, along with other notable DJs of the time too.
Beat me to it Mel.
Another part of our history, preserved on film for all to enjoy and learn from.
Thank you Gordon Murray for the wonders of childhood.
