I think it was jonesypeter who pointed out a few weeks ago that the switch over to digital was not THAT long ago . This means that some of the later TV tech from this era is pretty good Spectrum wise and a lot more modern than than tech from the Spectrum era itself.
It is also relevant to observe that the different types of Spectrum tech died out later at different times . For instance , it is arguable that the cassette recorder tech did not develop much after year 2000 or so whereas the "old style" analogue TV tech had another ,10 years or so , development to go which is why , as Beanz has observed , it is still a great time to get TV tech for the Speccy , even though the "best" time may have passed for cassette recorders.
And I suppose these remotes are "TV associated" tech and there is still a good range of retailers willing to supply these them . And I suppose for me , the USE value to me as a hobbyist of the ALBA TV far exceeds it's EXCHANGE vale (probably less than a fiver) . So in a "fit of hobbyistic overindulgence" I decided to get a differently branded (as per my type 2 as per above) original remote for the ALBA. It arrived this morning with a good quality receipt ; The Amazon sub seller was TW Electronics Ltd . This remote is a Goodmans GTV34R3DVD. So now I am only missing a Type 1 original !! . Seriously though it will be interesting to compare the performance of the 2 types of remote that I now have for this Alba TV
