  • Yeah I've got bored with companions, I really think I f**ked up with shagging Curie, she literally just says we're friends all the time. But I could probably bum Strong if I wanted to......Oh the Commonwealth is so cruel.

If I ever start a second character...Female.....and lesbo with Curie before she goes to the memory bank just to make sure :))

I took Nick Valium to Far Harbour with me, and I'm really glad I did, I get the impression you were supposed to even though the Far Harbour flyer has Dogmeat in the boat with you.

I won't say owt if nobody took Nick Valium with them, apart from you should have :))

Just completed another mission at Far Harbour but i'm sick of constantly getting messages of so and so settlement under attack, can't any of them fight for themselves? I've ignored 3 so far today. I would only go if it was Sanctuary or Tenpines Bluff, although that has a pet Deathclaw which would sort out any raiders.

  • I think your settlements if they're decent can defend themselves, I've missed defend notices before and from Warwick Farm, Nordhagen Beach, and Sunshine Tidings Co-Op I've had Successfully helped defend messages even though I've not gone to help, and been miles away on the map.

Of course I have had a few failed to help before as well, Somerville place has no people living there, but it still has food, water, power, and a happiness rating of 60% :))

I usually reload a save and fast travel if I miss a settlement defense, but Somerville was pretty crap, I'd put no effort into it, it doesn't even have a trade line going to it, and I was in the middle of a mission I didn't want to do again. So they erm...died basically.

I spent a lot of effort building machine gun turrets at most settlements.

I figured if I wasn't present, it would just look at the defence score of the settlement and not damage too much. Don't know if it works like that, but I normally only found the odd corn stalk destroyed, easy enough to replace at your leisure.

Failed a load of those missions, plus a load of 'help' missions.

  • Thought i'd completed all the Far Harbour missions but went back and now got a mission from the bartender and a little girl.
I also went back to Sanctuary to get my fusion core power set up, i now have street lights and mostly everything is running from that one generator apart from one set of lights.
I've got some more spare land and wondering about building a bigger and better bar for the settlers, all they have is a poxy stall run by Marcy Long who i hate.
I might just kill her :))

  • You can't kill Marcy Long :(

    Believe me I've tried :))

I've played this a lot this week so far, I've started treating the settlements I've unlocked on The Island a little better than the 10 million settlements of moaning f**ks I have back on the mainland. I've noticed you rarely hear the Harbour Folk complain, for living in a radioactive turd of an island they're a lot more positive than those snooty Mainlanders.

Anyway I left my game hung up story wise about a week ago or so, as I've been building a Skyscraper at Dalton Farm. It's only 4 stories high right now and only has 8 residents so far, but this settlement is one of my best so far in that I've got all of them in one place, and the size bar in the workshop isn't really increasing much. I'm doing them one at a time as well, so once I'm happy with Dalton Farm only then will I start messing with the rest I've unlocked. But I'll be honest I'm actually enjoying building the settlements up on the Island, something those whinging b@st@rds on the mainland have long put me off doing.

But anyway, I finally started Best left forgotten properly, and it appears I'm about to go and drink some irradiated spring water, and I'm assuming I'm gonna start tripping balls, so I'm off back to my safe place to drop off all the crap I'm carrying, and do a quick save. I've got a proper save from just before I went to the Nucleus, if this mission goes tits up I'm starting right from the beginning until I get it right, or at least how I want it to conclude anyway (As we all know technically there is no right or wrong).

  • That mission is pretty trippy, and very strange.
I think I've finished the missions now so nothing left except exploring as there's loads of places I haven't been yet.

I unlocked 2 or 3 locations in the Commonwealth the other day whilst doing a crappy Institute mission, and these locations were right next to a place I've been loads of times as well.

I've got a couple of locations on my map that I've not been to yet, but uncovered from random cack I've read or been told.

It's amazing that I'm almost level 102, been p*ssing around on the game for almost 8 months now, and apart from areas missions send me to I'm still finding new locations, that I've literally just walked past without seeing ages ago :))

I've still never even checked out that shopping mall that's run by Mr. Handy's, and I found it erm...last year basically :))

I went there, went into a shop, and I literally bumped into a cotton yarn thing, and the Mr. Handy went mental screaming at me "Aaaagh! You've ruined it now!!!", and opened fire, then all the other Mr. Handy's killed it, saying something like "Violence against customers will not be tolerated", after that it got too weird and I reloaded my game.

Didn't unlock it again until a month or so back, and erm...haven't been there again really :))

  • I've been spending some time at Sanctuary, doing the place up as I only recently installed a fusion generator. They now have better lighting and I'm building up my wood and steel as I want to build them a new pub or something, all they have is a bar stall run by the cheery Marcy Long.
I also built a small medical stall as well but no one seems to use it, I also built loads of outside tables are chairs for them to sit at round the bar. I might even build a room for all my power armour. I've already got a room with a bobblehead stand built.

It won't make them happier, those ungrateful turds have got everything they'd ever need, after the all time high of the happiness reaching something like 94% everything went wrong months ago. Now every time Sanctuary reaches 83% I get a warning, and it drops back down to about 80%.

Still getting buggy reports in the workshops menu like suddenly a settlement with 20 people living there will say there's only 1 bed, I travel there, and the stats correct themselves on arrival. It really annoys me, Bethesda keep adding stuff, but they haven't fixed what was broken from day 1....Can't say I'm surprised it's Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim etc...All over again.

I have thought about re-doing some of my settlements on the mainland to see if they'll be better off, but it seems they always fall into the same boat, ungrateful sods the lot of them!

I never took down my great wall of sanctuary, but I replaced all my Junk Fences with Angled Concrete Walls, cover a much wider space, takes up less of the Size Bar, and generally looks a bit better, but no they're still miserable.....Gits!

  • One of my settlements has no people living in it but has 50% happiness :))

Mechanists Lair, Boston Airport, and at least one other place is like that for me. Like I said earlier on in the thread Somerville place got wiped out by Raiders or Super Mutants, but because there's power food, and water there, even with zero people it has a happiness of about 60%-70% :))

Not gonna bother with any of them now if I really don't have to though :))

I could go murder all the people at Covenant too, if I wanted, but I've heard that settlement is buggy as fook if they turn hostile, like your own turrets you place turning against you, and everything in the houses classed as stolen even after there's nobody alive who owns it.

  • Just came to the conclusion that Dalton Farm doesn't have much luck, a week or so back I went there for some reason or other and it got attacked by literally hundreds of creatures, they just kept coming, and it automatically started a mission.

Today I was doing some random Children of Atom stuff, and I went to Dalton Farm to drop off my junk at the Workshop (I'm keeping the Island and the mainland separate for now, so I've started dropping off all my junk from the Island at Dalton Farms workshop), and then I was either going to go to Far Harbour to sell all the rest of the weapons and clothes I'd got, when I hear gunshots, out of nowhere about 10 Trappers attack, and it starts another mission based around the place getting attacked.

So I go to finish the mission by talking to the residents expecting the usual "OK thanks! It was no trouble" blah blah. Nope the dude take off running and says follow me.

I guess I'm off to the trappers hideout for a gunfight now, so I had to drop everything else I'd found on my travels at the workshop cos I had almost twice what I can actually carry, even after dropping off the junk. Need to be able to sprint, I don't like follow type situations anyway as you always need to sprint so you can get close enough to hear the person you're following properly if they speak to you.

  • I've done all the missions so did a bit of exploring but not found much of note apart from a few Trapper sites that had some ammo and caps.
Everyone in Far Harbour thinks i'm amazing now and got 1600 caps from someone which should come in handy. Since everything here is done might go back to Sanctuary and continue my rebuilding project, i need more aluminium and wood though?
All that's left here is to perhaps discover some more locations but that's it really.

  • This thread's gone a bit quiet for a few days... I guess nobody's playing it any more..?
  • I've not had time tbh, been driving trains :D

Been having a small break the last couple of days, work's really took it out of me, so I've been playing some older games that I don't really have to commit to.

Games I would've played a lot when I was younger, but still never would have spent as much time on as this :))

Bit like say something like the first Sonic game, after 25 years I can still pick that up, and know that I can go through it in about 35 minutes from start to finish :))

35 minutes on Fallout 4 can sometimes just be enough time to go from wherever you are you your next location, never find even going through the next location.

If the game doesn't do that I'm sure there'll be a mod for it soon, maybe there'll be one that let's you hit Mark Speight's corpse?....Or maybe not?

  • I played it last night, I had a mission from Dr Carrington at the Railroad to rescue a synth, it was a bit strange because I thought he was being held by raiders or gunners but when I got to where he was being held (Posiden Reservoir) it was full of ghouls, plus he was being held in a room right next to the exit, he could just have a left at any time :))

  • I've only had one mission from Dr Carrington, and was an Institute story mission. Unless to get more missions you have to have destroyed the Institute?

I've never had another mission from Caretaker either, even though he says after you rescue him, or whatever you do to unlock him? Maybe it was the Ticonderoda missions? But I'm sure him or Desdemona said check back because there'll be more synths to rescue? Hasn't happened yet?

  • Well had a couple more hours on this, finished off a couple of Children of Atom Quests, and explored the Vim! Factory. Between that and all the Legendary beasts I killed I ended up walking away with about 8 special weapons.

They were all a bit crap really.

I'm sure these would have been amazing if I was about level 26, but apart from what I'm carrying now everything I find is pretty much useless. Haven't found any better weapons or armour than I already have in months, and none of the shopkeepers or vendors have anything worth having.

The only weapon I've bought that was any use was Pray n' Spray from Cricket, I've had it in my inventory for months, in fact I've pretty much been carrying it since I bought it. I rarely use it though, I literally switch between a 2 shot sniper rifle, and a Neverending Shotgun. I'm carrying something like 6 or 7 weapons most of the time but rarely use any other than these 2.

I've turned the PS4 off now, and I'm going to go in the shower, and when I return to the mancave I shall be playing games for older systems instead.

I have no idea what to expect, but I'm assuming it's gonna be stressful? :))
