48K Speccy coils
Hi folks,
For once I don't have an issue, but I HAVE just reanimated two long-dead issue 2 speccies by rewinding their 12V coils after reading a couple of threads here so thanks chaps, much appreciated!
It's one of those things I've never attempted before since a) I didn't know if it was possible, and b) what wire to use.
Job's a goodun. Cheers!

! Standby alert !
“There are four lights!”
Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb!
Looking forward to summer in Somerset later in the year :)
http://goo.gl/q2j0NZ - make ZX Spectrum choose your own adventure games, no programming needed (release 3)
remove the coil from the board - it's keyed so you can't refit it wrongly.
unsolder the 4 wire ends, you'll need to do this even if one or more of them is broken
unwrap the outer wire making note as to which way round it's wrapped and how many turns
repeat for the inner wire which will be opposite to the outer.
Measure both wires so you know how long to cut the new ones then wrap carefully in the reverse direction.
If I find another one to do I'll document it properly.
