All I can hope now is that *someone* turns up *something* - I've been looking at and linking to a lot of WOS pages recently and I'd hate to think that, sometime in early September, they'll be blank.
Well, i hope NickH is happy for what he's done, he now hates wos and probably wants to see it gone.
To all the haters, i hope you're pleased with yourself.
Think of any other machine of the time - Amstrad, C64 (and less successful Commodore machines), Atari ST, Amiga, the MSX family - any sites I can think of concerning those might have a WOS-style database but any attempt at software preservation has begun and ended with hacked and cracked tapes and discs run by nefarious underground types; WOS has been the only one to "keep it real" as it were. It would be nothing short of a catastrophe if all Martijn's work over however many years it was (11, 12, 13?) was lost - especially with the database still expanding.
Two problems with that statement.
There are huge efforts underway on other formats to preserve games in the original format.
And crackers have helped either preserve or unlock software that would have been lost.
Who is this Andrew character I've seen mention of a few times?
Paul Andrews/GamerJay/Specula/Stuart Black/BobMajors/etc/etc/
Sounds like a would-be serial killer with all those aliases? Is he anyone important within the scene, as in a particular contributor, a developer or something from back in the day, etc??

He was Alten8. He's a nobody really but he dropped lucky by getting official backing for the Vega. He repaid that by trying to screw everyone over again, and is behind this which has failed but still seems to have the funds...

My offer to host WOS for free still stands.
It was probably only Lee's bad day.
Relax. :)

Great news! Hope he visits soon.
Thank the Lord for that Fog !
I thought he might not get to see the Gargoyle images which I have promised him so long, I miss his humour !

It makes it easier anyway as Lee is an admin in the group now. So fire away Nick because I refuse to bow down to your bullshitting ways.

I would agree, but he must think there is some money in it.
NO NO NO
It's a lovely little machine designed by the same people who designed the Spectrum.
It has a quite brilliant emulator available for it on both PC and Nintendo DS...
