  • Best to wear your tinfoil hat as well just to make sure.
    Every night is curry night!
  • Did the government tell you to say that Boozy ? Which alphabet agency do you work for ? 8-|

  • @Boozy: got a spare one? I hear tinfoil hats are also good for reflecting sun rays. #:-S

One week it's much too cold for time of year, next it's raining every day for a week, and now we're in a mini-heatwave where I live. Too much of anything is rarely a good thing...

(note to self: grab ice lolly from fridge)
  • The government solution is to tell people to eat salads and open the windows, at least it was in the official release I received yesterday, also don't run in the sun, crazy or what !

  • I love general advice NOT!

If the heat spell is short, and you have a building with thick stone walls (which are normally cool in summer), the last thing you should do is open the windows wide to let the heat in from outside!

The same applies to super insulated homes...

Of course, if your building is hot anyway, I don't think you need someone to tell you to try opening the windows...

Right, who up for invading the ministry of silly statements and switching off all their air conditioning units, and opening all their windows?

I've heard they're much nicer if you keep them in the freezer.

Rush to B&Q and buy an air conditioning unit costing £300.

I wasn't aware there was a heatwave...it's misty and coldish here on the east coast of Scotland.

I stole it off a space ship.

Are they the ones that you have to vent through the walls ?

Their advice was also to install external canopy's over the windows, so there goes another couple of grand !
By the time the contractors arrived, they would be issuing the exact opposite advice, I have an inspection in just over a week and if they expect canopys, well they will be sorely upset ! I once got told off for having the light on an electric fire on, they claimed I had the fire on in Summer, perhaps I should have fitted a blue bulb to make it look cooler.

  • Official releases on the internet are a parallel universe... Never mind whether that's software releases, wheater reports, news, or whatever. :P
  • These official reports are work related and have to be acted on, even if I only get written proof that I have had something looked into, by the time any real action is to be taken, the rules have changed.

Talking about Wheatus, reminds me, Amazon have just sent me a mail about spectrum t-shirts and there is a yellow Horace goes Skiing one !

  • I have just realised, this is the Bloody weather thread, it has been so hot in England in the past few days that it is almost unbearable, my advice for it is, stick an ice lolly in your underpants/knickers, that will cool you down, you may get shot for walking like a zombie, but the risk is worthwhile !

  • It's been average up here in Scotland it's been about 16-19C all week but today it might even make 20C. That's considered a heatwave for us!

I never walk around in a t-shirt outdoors, let alone take it off, I wouldn't want all the other men to feel inferior !

  • Early this morning, we had a bit of sun. Then it rained heavily for a short time. Has not rained since. Currently it's 22C and has been warm all day.

Hence, I got some painting done :)

  • Remember back on page 2 when I said the world had ended and all the trees in my back garden had fell over? Well the people came about a month back, and cut the branches away. They came back yesterday to remove the 2 trees, and everything was fine until about 10 minutes ago. The crane slipped off the support pads, and crushed the roof above the kitchen. I'd post some pics, but they're probably going to be used in an insurance claim, so best not to.

Heard this really loud rumbling, heard it again, but much worse, the theory is they've been trying to finish the job off quickly and overloaded the crane. By this stage I was thinking maybe I shouldn't be in the house any more.

But looking at it now it doesn't look so bad, but I hope it doesn't rain anytime soon, there's a big kink in the roof :O
    Every night is curry night!
  • You have a kinky roof Boozy ? Hope you get it sorted soon, you should get some good luck soon :((
