Well, I just watched the first episode 'arrival'...and yes, I was hooked after 5 minutes. I'm gonna watch the rest for sure. Some supplier made a killing on lava lamps, heh. George Baker was such a wonderful actor. Be seeing you...

Welcome to the Prisoner fan club :) You'll get obsessed you know?

Already am. Can't believe my own stupidity and stubbornness(in never watching it). Well, I am pretty stupid. Anyhoo..that's 50 minutes per night for the next while sorted.

I stole it off a space ship.
  • Yup ! Be seeing you ! :))
Every time I read that the oldest person in the world has died, I have to do a quick check to see it isn't ME..........
  • At least there's only 17 episodes lol

I will have to check out my copy and see if it is any better, I have the equipment to transfer it if needed, just have to work out how to use it, I only bought it about 10 years ago, so I have not learned how to work it yet.

  • Just a heads up for anyone interested in the complete collection of Dangerman and the prisoner dvds, there is someone on there selling the entire 44 disk collection on E-Bay for £39.99 + £5.00 postage. Most are brand new and still sealed and it is a buy it now, at about £1 a disc, that is a mega bargain.

They are located in West Yorkshire and no it is not me !

I live in the far South of England !

  • Actually it is only £38.99, so it is exactly £1 a DVD

  • ..that's millionaire money! I knows you fellows down south are loaded and such like..that's probably like a penny chew to you fellows. Nah..it's worth it if you are a huge fan.

I'm up to episode 6. I thought Schizoid man was not quite up to scratch..maybe it was just me..but I'm loving Prisoner..for sure.

  • Us Millionaires you mean ? I sent someone out to get the rolls yesterday, we had cheese on them :))

    All that she wants...I dunno what's worse..being a neo-nazi or a benefits scrounger..

Let's cheese it with an expensive worm ridden Italian cheese. Number 6 wishes he could.

  • Yeah..I'll get there. Some bugger at work told me he didn't make it out...grrr.

I watched 'The General' earlier. That was ace. When the computer blew up and killed everyone...reminded me of when I fiddled with my speccy power pack and blew myself up..just about(face full of soot anyways and blinded for a minute or two...I also asked WHY?

  • Lol yeah I watched that one yesterday, onto episode 7

  • I can neither confirm or deny if he escapes and no-one else should tell you either way ! :)

  • Yeah, he's lying.. Or is he <GRIN>
Anyway The general is brilliant. I love the noise the speed learning technique makes and the American style reporter introducing the general. It has great atmosphere that episode... As they all have.
I really really want to see / code / design a prisoner game. It has so much potential.
    Sod it!

  • I'd like to see a new Prisoner game on the Spectrum too (but not another text adventure). I've been learning Boriel BASIC over the last few weeks as well ! Don't forget this thread but it

  • Many happy returns...episode 7 was fantastic. I don't want to admit it confused a bit..in case it's just a case of me being thick.

As for a game version..well, since he does not appear to be getting orf the island...it'll have to be points based...with 17 different endings.

  • Maybe dodge rover and collect objects?

  • I am glad that they had trouble with the robot rover and had to use the weather balloon instead, it just worked, I think it would have been a mistake to make a robot believable, but we all believed the globe of white which bobbed to the surface of the water, mirrowing the oil in the lava lamp and the chair and even the penny farthing wheel.

  • It certainly adds to the surrelism. Where did Rover come from? Was it manufactured? What was it's connection with water? Brilliant stuff.

  • Rover, the Village sheepdog, rounding up the citizens! Interesting Rover fact, it was only called "Rover" in one episode (The Schizoid Man) and No.6 (disguised as Curtis) is the first to use the name. I remember when I was a kid, a friend of mine showed me Jet Pac for the first time and I think it's level 3 with the wobbling spheres, I said to him "They're like Rover" ... but he hadn't seen The Prisoner so didn't know what I was talking about!
  • I remembered Sword of Vermilion on the Megadrive..reminded me of them sphere things.

The sound effects might have even been similar.
