I just found out about this a minute ago.

Monty Python are re-uniting for a new series (minus Graham Chapman obviously).

I really hope it does get shown here.

You know, when you go back and watch Python a again, there are some real gems. But there is also a whole load of crap.

Not really a new series is it seeing as the Pythons are simply filming linking footage between clips of the original series, which is akin to the recent Two Ronnies sketchbook series.

From what I remember, quite a few of the sketches in the original TV series were "topical" at the time they were first broadcast, perhaps poking fun at some obscure politician, minor celebrity or someone else in the news at the time.

But unfortunately today, 35 years on, many of these sketches are pretty meaningless and unfunny, as most of us have never even heard of the people being lampooned.

Consequently, it's the timeless sketches like 'SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM...' and 'THIS IS AN EX-PARROT...' that are more fondly remembered today.

Apart from their really famous ones (dead parrot, vikings, silly walks etc.), my favourites are :-

    Hungarian Phrase Book
    Sam Peckinpah's Salad Days
    The Deja Vu Sketch
    The Pirahnas
The Bishop!!! (that's probably the best one ever)
Arthur "Two Sheds" Jackson (of course!!!)

    and many more ...

I thought four yorkshire men was one of their pre-python sketches. The playwright father/coal miner son sketch is best, and the majority of their songs are pants.

I sadly bought the python box set many moons ago so ho hum, nothing new there.

What I do want to know though, where the hell is the Dave Allen tribute?

I would have at least expected a box set, or a best of DVD... or even some re runs!

What is this country coming too

Python is grossly over rated, Not the 9 o'clock news was far superior.

Got to see DA on his tour a few years ago. Pissed myself laughing. Bits ended up in a TV series and that was piss funny too.

He musta been Mel's dad, the language was very similar.
