Does anyone remember this terrible show?
In the late 80's there was a sitcom on ITV called Ffizz about two wine merchants (or something). I vaguely remember catching this while off school ill with the flu and it was awful, unfunny and almost unwatchable, luckily it hasn't been repeated.
I had to endure this on my portable in the bedroom which had no remote and i didn't have the energy to get out of bed to change the channel :))
Does anyone else remember it? It's possibly the worst show i ever seen.

Then again, was looking through a few old continuity bits and what have you, and although I didn't think so then, TV really was a bit crap in the 80s.
The worst show I can remember was 'The Good Life' and
'Butterflies' for good measure.
It was pants.
It was called Home James

Of course it was. It had Jim Davidson in it!
Finally someone else in the world knows who George Sewell is!
He was good in Special Branch in the 70's.
I'm sure we've had this conversation before.
:-/
Yeah, I remember it too... I mentioned that he was in UFO as Alec Freeman.

I was going to say "Up The Elephant and Down The Castle" - which was also crap.
I remember shortly before I moved over here, there was a new channel that started on Sky that played random old shows and that was one of them. One episode had Marina Sirtis (Deanna Troi from Star Trek TNG) with a really grinding cockney accent.
Trying to remember what that channel was - it was pretty good though - it had Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors and Ulysses 31 on at around 10:30-11 weekday nights, and The Fall Guy was on when I staggered in pissed at around 3am on weekends (although I mostly just got through the credits and nodded off)
I can't remember.
How about 'Home To Roost' with Reese Dinsdale and John Thaw?
Also, 'Duty Free' and 'Fresh (later French) Fields' were also crap.
But Duty Free was awful and so cheap looking, can't remember much about Fresh/French Fields though.
Fresh/French Fields, twee middle class suburban comedy in the mould of Terry and June, the "comedy" staple of the networks churned out by dozen 60's to 80's.
Always seemed to have a situation involving saying something embarrassing when the local vicar came round to collect some old tat for the local village fête or an embarrassing wrong-end-of-the-stick type mix-up when hosting a dinner party situation, not that fêtes or dinner parties meant much to a great swath of the population at the time.
Duty Free and Home to Roost were typical of the cheap telly knocked out by Yorkshire TV whose budget for outside drama broadcasts never seemed to allow them to be filmed further away than a five mile radius from the studio IE Kirkstall Lane or Burley Rd Otherwise known as "Denton" in the case of A touch of Frost.

Most new films are rubbish but the occasional one comes along that's quite good.
A lot of that comes from me working nights, daytime is a rare commodity these days, and even though I've always been a night person, you don't realize just how much you miss daytime til' it's not there at all, especially at this time of year. So the last thing I want to do is sit in a big dark room full of strangers watching some pile of disappointing shite, or even on my couch watching some big pile of disappointing shite, and either way being safe in the knowledge I've wasted my time and money regardless.

Watch it at 1.5 speed, get half hour of your life back, use headphones so that the dialogue is in your ears and hopefully not drowned by the overloud music and effects.

Can you imagine if you could pause the movie in a cinema, people are up and down all the time, you'd spend the whole day / night watching a movie.

I used to love movies, but since the turn of the century, they largely seem formulaic and very 'seen-it-before'.
'Se7en' was a really good one that I remember well - same with 'Event Horizon', but I think the SFX on that one have probably suffered with age.
I've struggled to find a movie I was really blown away by for a long time. There have been a few good efforts - '21' was pretty good, 'The Martian' is OK to watch once and 'Intergalactic' was also OK, but was basically "2001 - A Space Odyssey" for people with no imagination who need everything explained to them.
We have Netflix, but my wife and kid hog it, so I can rarely watch anything I want to see - and when I can, there's not that much that interests me. I was off work ill for a few days a couple of weeks back and watched a few things. There was this animated movie called 'Anomalisa' which was actually quite thoughtful (and bloody weird) that I quite enjoyed. I've also watched a fair bit of Anime on Netflix as I quite enjoy Japanese animation.
'Deadpool' was pretty good, but I got sick of hearing about how edgy it is, and 'Suicide Squad' was quite good for what it was.. 'Batman Vs Superman' was pants, though.
I loved the old 'Mad Max' trilogy, so I was stoked about the new one. It was actually not that bad, but the cast members made some questionable decisions. (Kind of feel like they wanted to re-use the sets).
You do feel wallet-raped when you go these days as well. It's not so much the ticket price as the bloody concessions! I wouldn't care, but my wife and kid are all like "but it's not a movie without the SNACKS!" - so we get some crappy combo where you spend like $10 on a bag of sweets that should cost no more than $2 and we get a bucket of popcorn "to share" that she dumps a ton of Becel on, (because "THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO DO WITH POPCORN!" apparently) which completely makes me not want to eat it, so I barely touch it. Oh yeah, and you get some crappy fountain soft drinks with a ****-ton of ice in them.
