Favourite Christmas Movies

There's been a lack of Christmas threads so far so here's mine which i think has been done before.
What's your favourite Christmas movies? My all time favourite is Scrooged followed by Jingle all the way (seriously!), Santa Claus the movie, Trains, Planes and Automobiles, National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Bad Santa.

  • Anyone seen 'Rare Exports-A Christmas Tale' ? ...Saw last night - and it's a really well made horror/ slightly humorous Christmas movie.
    Favs tho have always been
A Christmas Story (you'll shoot ya eye out)
    &
    Muppets Christmas Carol
  • I'm gonna say Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence.

It's about as much of a Christmas movie as 80% of these, and it comes with POW torture, and Russian Roulette, what more could you ask for at the non denominational merry time of year?

Also interracial homoerotic undertones it's hard to beat as a Christmas movie :D
  • Weirdly Gremlins hasn't been on this Christmas (on Freeview anyway).

Funny how we seem to get films like Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead on pretty much every week.

I think some 80s films seem to have fallen into a 'not vintage enough, not current enough to show' category.
  • I think its a general trend, Morkin. ITV (and other channels) play the same films over and over again regardless of the season. Whereas CH5 went over the top by broadcast all those budget Xmas movies. BBc still show those OAP ( ;) ) buy / sell / antique shows over the holidays inbetween the movies, which they always show in the week even the bank holidays.

With the mass spread of specialised channels, TV has lost it variety when a holiday is on. Those special shows are a bit fewer these days. At least we still get the Christmas specials for the most popular shows, which is good for the fans of those shows.
    Sod it!

Is Still game the Game on Christmas Specials? I can't remember?

I can't even remember if I still lived in England when they started if that's what they are?
