Just picked this up...

I'm rather happy, just picked this up...

Comes with 2 boxed sticks, original Comet receipt, manual, care plan, poly inserts... box has some marks but overall it's really great.

Just thought I would share my find with you :)

  • Any idea how much these are worth in this sort of condition? I'm curious if i got a deal or not on it.
  • How much did you pay ? If you paid £1.00 you got a fantastic deal, however if you paid £1,000 you were robbed !
Every time I read that the oldest person in the world has died, I have to do a quick check to see it isn't ME..........
  • Don't get me wrong, I hate polystyrene as it is killing the world, but there is nothing like pulling a 'new' computer from out of it's poly box. Bliss!
    Sod it!

I'd say it's worth about £70-£100 working. If you get no joy from the disk drive, it's because it's old belt has turned to licorice which then wraps it's self around the brass motor pulley. Horrid stuff to clean off. New replacement belts are available.

    @dreamscape

A few years ago, I paid 45 pounds my +3, boxed in great cosmetics and working condition.
I only have replaced the drive belt, added 3.5 external floppy drive and still works quite well.
Now is the time to tell us how much you paid and whether it is in working order? ;)
Of course, I assume that you're from the UK and that you collected it in person?
Also, attach more pictures if you can, to take a closer look... this is a beautiful computer, one of the best designed in the 8 bit era. :)

I paid £20, 2 boxed joysticks, boxed console etc... It was not working as the drive belt was gone as expected but i have just replaced it and it is working great now!

As for more pictures, lots can be seen here: ridgeracer.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=25&sid=8679c31ee6913cec7041303c0367c86c

Thanks for the valuation, you were correct, it was pretty worn.. rubbing alcohol sorted that out though! :)

  • I rubbed a bit of alcohol once and got slapped in the face.

  • Bargain mate for £20. Although it may be tempting to sell to make a few £'s, I'd keep hold of it and enjoy it, you'll probably never find another for £20.
  • Yeah it certainly was cheap. I want to try and learn to code BASIC on it maybe make a few games but I look at the manual and it's just like... what!? haha! Been playing with BASin in Windows, awesome program but all i've done so far is make it change the board color haha!
