OK I can confrim this, they have a little pop up stand at my local sainsburys (Witney) with a few 'classic' albums - Sargeant Pepper etc.
yeah I guess they'll start off with all the well known classics and go from there. this time next year every sainsburys will have its own Detroit techno, speed metal, and krautrock sections.
And in 10 years time when today's hipsters have started having kids and run out of space they'll be cluttering up the charity shops again along with all the Max Bygraves compilations and 37 copies of No Parlez by Paul Young.

except by that time Paul Young will actually be cool and trendy again.
- correction...Paul Young will actually be cool and trendy.
I like it too, it was one of a few "modern" albums my dad bought in the early 80s (he was mainly into folk, blues etc), so I used to play it a lot and giggle behind my hand when this song came on:
my mum had the tape too. when I was 5 it was my favourite album ever. also the first music I remember listening to on headphones...
I used to think the line on the title track "Still you put the hammer in the hands of the children" was "Stick a little hammer in the pants of the children" ;))8-|

First I would have to read the list, then I would have to pretend to want something that I never knew I needed, then I would have to find a store and get up early, then I would have to spend loads of money, then stick them, unopened in a closet for 30 years, hoping that they would be worth something. I think I will do some ironing instead !
Don't get me wrong, I love vinyl, but have no time to queue for ages and get what is left behind after all of the interesting stuff has been bought by some Del Boy, intent on becoming an E-Bay Millionaire !
Every time I read that the oldest person in the world has died, I have to do a quick check to see it isn't ME..........
It is similar with the HMV limited vinyls, a friend was about to pay £50 for a coloured Velvet underground LP, I said check out HMV first, they still had about 20 left at shelf price, they are not as limited as some believe !

I bet Tesco will be doing their Fathers day limited LPs again this year, if so they would be available about mid May onwards, last years were selling online at the time for about £100 each and they are still getting about the same. My advice would be, get talking to a member of staff, directly involved with the record department, find out if and when they are available. Last year there were about 12 different ones, but only about 6 that appealed to me, it would probable be the same this year !

I saw an advert for a magazine that is GIVING away a Beatles vinyl LP with every edition! (starting with the first LP). I've never known a magazine to give away a free LP, just cassettes but i guess it's because the early stuff is out of copyright.
grey key .. someone put the security tag thru the cover = wouldn't buy it.
zx1, yep I saw that advert also. the first one is cheap enough, but then I saw the other bundles they do, that get a bit more pricey.
Standard Subscription: Issue 1: £9.99 for limited time only.
Issue 2 onwards: all single albums are £16.99, all double and triple albums are £24.99
it's tricky, as depends what version of the recordings were used for starters.. and not sure how many locations there are masters now, think it was 5 different places for years. with tape, it really has to be kept a certain way temp wise / humidity etc.
As you say Fog, they can mix and match which versions of the recordings they use, there are Mono that has been made into stereo as well as the original Mono versions. Once you have spent a whole year collecting them, spent on average of £50 a month, £46 for the two storage boxes to keep them in, a lot of people won't even open them, hoping that they will be worth a fortune. However they are not an investment because they can be re-issued at any time in the future, making any previous issues worth cover price only.

It has a free yellow flexi single of Thomas Leer and The Residents, although it is £10
