the Stallone film was OK, but they tried to stuff too much 2000 AD lore into too short of a time. Like the deactivated ABC Warrior, which I'm pretty sure was in the wrong timeline anyway, but not that it matters.
To be fair, no I haven't watched preacher. Bit scared to, is it good then? Um, I take back the 'all US tv' as I did watch the first American Gods and that was pretty much to the book.

I retract and say 'most US tv'. :)
everybody ive spoke to says preacher is awesome, although everybody agrees, nobody knows what the hells going on half the time but thats the beauty of it lol

They need to team up with the people who create 'The Expanse' for the SYFi channel, then it'll have a chance.
2000AD has a great catalogue of characters - and some really gritty, funny & horrific storylines that they should be able to make many great films / tv series.
I've never read any Judge Dredd, so my opinion isn't worth much I know, but I thought the Stallone film was rubbish, and the later film (starring Bones from the Star Trek reboot) was great. No doubt a TV series could be terrible or fantastic, or anywhere in-between, depending on many factors, including if the writers actually understand the characters and their world.
I mean, who'd have thought that Gotham (a TV series about Gotham City, before Batman came to be) would be any good? It sounds rubbish, basically Batman but without Batman, but it's fantastic, the storylines, characters, and the casting of the main actors are all very well done indeed. It's about a city over-run with crime, and a new copper, James Gordon, who tried to clean up the crime and the corruption. It's interesting, well written, occasionally funny, and with some very memorable performances (the Penguin is amazing, and the Riddler, Alfred, Gordon, Harvey Bullock (my favourite character) and lots of others really do fit right in the storylines.
Note: If you haven't seen Gotham, then don't start mid-series or anything. Start right from the beginning, with episode 1 series 1 (download a torrent if you have to), so you know exactly what's going on.
The chap who played him in the none Stallone film was pretty good, and the film wasn't bad. Hope they get him back as lead, as he at least seems a genuine fan.
Really want this to succeed, but a bit cautious like others. Wouldn't want to see it ending up like the RoboCop TV Series, which I've 'tried' to watch a number of times!
I thought it was ok, just a bit too family friendly, not shocking enough like the original, although the bit where they show him how much of his body is left was quite good - apart from the hand!
+1 for Gotham. Thought it was going to be naff but it is very, very good. As long as JD is dark like Gotham and has some decent actors and script writers then it stands a good chance. Hopefully it doesn't end up like Arrow or The Flash, which started off well but have since descended into utter ludicrousness.
It wasn't that bad! There's a lot worse out than that :D
Agreed. But, that's like saying there are worse diseases out there in the world than tuberculoid leprosy. The Stallone film was and is a complete mess. The recent one was ace, though. And, if Karl Urban's going to be reprising his role then I'll definitely be giving it a watch. The man absolutely nailed the part, I thought.
Ooh, if they could get Karl Urban that would be a massive plus - he was brilliant in the very good movie.
He was in a similarish role in the TV series Almost Human where he played a cop in a Blade Runner-y type future. Bloody good show that was, a crying shame they canned it halfway through the first season.
I have to agree that Karl Urban played JD really well and I thought the film itself was brilliant ( even in 3D ).
The only thing I didn't like about the Urban film was the Helmet jthe judges wore, and I know it sounds picky, but it was too big and it took me a while to adjust.

All US tv is formulated and has all artist styles sucked out of them by the networks.
