Yeah wife literally just told me about this as I refreshed WOS and here's this thread :O

EDIT: Been confirmed as a terrorist attack! I know Ariana Grande's sh*t, but I think this is going too far...

EDIT: EDIT: Second unexploded device found, they're going to do a controlled explosion soon.

  • We have a office in Manchester who i talk to every day. I hope no one from there was involved.
    The trouble with tribbles is.......
  • The evil fecking bastards. That was kids. My heart goes out to those poor people. Imagine being a parent picking your kid up.
  • Sickening. No words do describe these people. Murdering families and young children; the mind boggles and I just cannot understand who would do such a thing.

According to this, they had a rehearsal drill for this just a few days ago, very strange !

In a world where you can't even fall over without someone filming it, why has no footage of smoke or an explosion come forth, only people running around, the dangerous woman tour lives up to it's name ?

A news item also says that families are trying to find out if their young children were among the victims, but they would not allow children under 16 to enter the venue without an adult, so the families would only need to contact the adult supervising their child to find out. At 10.30 concert end, there would be very few youngsters there anyway, but they are making out that a large proportion are young kids.

  • Stay classy grey key! Are you trying to say there wasn't an explosion?

My niece was there, and thankfully made it out ok. I can assure you very much that there was an explosion.
  • I wonder what the security was like. I've been to the London Stadium (aka Olympic Stadium) a few times and the security's been really bad. Anyone could walk in with an explosive device.
  • I'm sure there's plenty of footage of the explosion and aftermath that doesn't need to enter the public domain. Why would anyone outside of the security networks actually want or need to see kids and families getting blown up?

Glad to hear your niece is okay, Daren.

The police said it happened in the lobby, which the venue described as a 'public space'. It still seems to be on their property though.

It looks like people had come in to the lobby from outside to pick up friends or kids, and that's also where they flog a lot of the merchandise. Presumably you didn't need any sort of ticket to get in to that part of the complex.

  • That's right, that area is essentially available for anyone to walk in and out of. If the concert had finished 5 mins earlier then it would have been jam packed, :(

Yes, that's the impression I got this morning too. The explosion occurred in the public space just outside, not in the actual concert hall itself. One bloke interviewed, who was waiting for his daughter to come out of the hall, said he was blown backwards 30 feet. Obviously he was okay, got up and entered hall to help and look for his family.
  • BC romans would well pay a visit to his relatives as a means of frightening other epic warriors. Maybe it's time to go retro-ancient against this people. Law is useless in these cases.
  • It was mainly the interview with the guy who was at the centre of the explosion explaining in a very calm voice how he was thrown 30 foot through the air and slammed into a wall. Then he went through the injured to see if his wife and kid were there, then apologising if he was talking loud as his ears were still ringing. According to the police, the victims were in a very shocking state with blood everywhere and he was calmly saying how he searched the scene, surely he should have been traumatised by it.

If I read correctly, explosion was in the entrance / box office area. Not a place where you're likely to shoot video, and explosion not seen (but felt & heard!) inside the arena. Btw watch this:

Around 0:08 there's a flash on the left side. Followed by the corresponding "boom". Probably more videos of the actual explosion will turn up in the coming days.
At 10.30 concert end, there would be very few youngsters there anyway, but they are making out that a large proportion are young kids.
Who are you kidding? Ariane Grande in concert, that's youngsters all over the place. Late-for-bed for the occassion (?) ;) but definitely there.

Some really sick mind to pick this mass of people as a target... But yes crazies are out there & sometimes no avoiding them.
  • Ok, let's not start any conspiracy theories.

Let's stick to the facts, there was an explosion, people were injured and people did die.

    Absolutely awful.
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...

He probably will be - eventually. These things take time, survival instinct kicks in first, then the need to find his family, the relief at finding them all hidden behind a ****-load of Adrenalin. Once that wears off he will need to be kept a close eye on - because he'll suddenly realise how close to death he was.

I saw a similar thing with my step dad who fell off a set of ladders and nearly decapitated himself on a piece of sheet metal. He was laughing and joking about it for two days - then it hit him. The change was remarkable, he was basically a gibbering mess.
  • OK turns out Ariana Grande is a singer and not a coffee. That would explain why there were kids there!

Not convinced this is the answer

  • Apolologies for the post. I did NOT write it!! It must have been my naughty young cousin. He's writing a black list of bad guys and their family trees. I dunno what he wants it for. I think he wants to be buried with the list so he can give it in person to St. Peter in the gates of Heaven.

A fundraising page for a homeless man who was in the foyer of the Manchester Arena when the bomb was detonated has raised over £3,000.

The page was set up by Michael Johns, who said he wanted to help Chris Parker "one of our most vulnerable in society who showed great selflessness and courage" as he helped those affected.

  • I was not disrespecting any victims or their families, just pointing out that people were already having their conclusions moulded by potentially misleading reporting and strange eye witness reports.
