  • Not sure if its cringeworthy, but we enjoy this as kids.

I learnt that some jokes are 'family' shared jokes and make no sense outside. My uncle was a DJ with a bit record collection and he had this track. He played it to us kids and we all thought it was funny and cool. Our music teacher encouraged us to bring in records to play at the beginning of the lesson that year, so I thought it would be fun to play this track. The class never got the joke, as soon as they heard the squeaky bee voices, the teacher shut it off in embarrassment and I got the p**s ripped out of me that day. Wrong age I guess, everyone was trying too hard to be cool (11 or 12) rather than just being kids.
    Sod it!

  • I did a similar thing in school when I was 14, but I took in the Rage Against the Machine album, primed to play Killing in the Name. There were a few of my mates sitting giggling as the song got nearer and nearer to the end. When it happened I distinctly remember the music teacher folded his arms and tried to look calm and collected. But you could see his impatience as Zach repeatedly screamed "F*ck you I won't do what you tell me", and at the very end when he screams "Motherf*cker!!! Uhhh!" this divvy charva lass at the back of the class nudges her mate and goes "Eeeeeee this hippy music's got loads of swearin' in it like!"..

Teacher popped the deck open and practically threw my tape at me, I didn't get in trouble though, as he said as a music teacher it was his job no matter how much he disliked what I'd played to uphold the integrity of various types of musical expression. This just made the charva girls laugh all the more.

There are so many, what are yours? My top 3 are:-
    MacArthur Park - Richard Harris
Whiter shade of Pale - Procol Harum
    Jumbo - BeeGees

Any and all of the so-called R'n'B songs; i think they all sound as if they feel terribly sorry for themselves

  • This...

The video makes me cringe even more than the song itself. Something about people pretending to play guitars they don't even play on the actual song gets to me somewhat.
  • You haven't met cringe till you watch this: Celine Dion 'playing' guitar like Angus Young. Unforgettable.

  • Don't make me post a vid of lil' wayne with his guitar :))

Aye, Celine Dion doing the duck walk is an image I've been struggling to erase from my mind for many years. Having said that Anastacia really belted the song out well and did it justice. She could have replaced Brian Johnson, serious opinion.

Scary fact, Celine Dion is a really big AC/DC fan...

Hmmmm? 1981....TOTP...BBC? I bet Jimmy green-lighted that performance.....I'm making a joke, but it could actually be real....

Wonder who's idea at the BBC Mini-Pops was? Bet if you emailed them and asked them they wouldn't tell you :))

  • I cant view the Celine Dion version of you shook me. I get the message that the uploader hasnt made this available in your country.
  • That's how cringe-worthy it actually is.

When you let the public publish their own songs. Some new cringe.

A somewhat more professional but much more cringe worthy example that is an annoying blend of airhead female and crap music library soundtrack for a hipster's video.
