I'm assuming if I wanted to do all the Dungeons I'm better off doing what I'm doing now? I'm assuming they get a massive bump in difficulty in NG+?

Speaking of which I'm going after Mergo's Wet Nurse right now, the c*nt killed me, but I had her at about 1/4 health on my first attempt. She's dying before I go to bed today :))

EDIT: Well that wasn't too bad, got a bit crazy when she started cloning herself, but no not that hard, now the workshop is burning....I'm assuming I should not go and meet Gehrman under the old tree if I don't want to end the game...

  • Nah, the dungeons have nothing to do with NG, they remain the same difficulty. I've just opened the last Isz dungeon and almost got beat by the Celestial Emissary!!

Once you figure out that all you have to do is run and avoid Wet Nurses cloning bit she's actually one of the easiest bosses.

Oh, the ending depends on how many Umbilical Cords you consume. Either none, 1, 2 or 3. Consuming them affects the Gehrman fight. You either do, don't or... well, you'll see :-)
  • Bloodborne, decided I'd try the Isz Dungeon for a laugh.

It wasn't that funny the first boss was a Brainsucker, and the bast managed to suck 8 f*cking insight from me. I was not happy especially now I've unlocked Blood Rocks as an Insight Purchase. I obviously want to be keeping as much Insight as possible, what annoys me even more is I visceral attacked the bast, and almost killed him in one go, but he managed to break through my first attack and grab me, and somehow got a couple of lucky binding spells in.....Watched my insane arcane knowledge slipping through my fingers with no means of stopping it :((

Although the first Isz Dungeon doesn't seem anywhere near as hard as the Loran Dungeons, or at least not yet. The last boss in the Rotted Loran Dungeon turned out to be the Abhorrent Beast again, and this time I have no NPC Hunter to summon, did him some decent damage, but I fear that one will take a while to get past.

  • Revisiting Torchlight - after playing through that back in 2011 as Alchemist (the mage class), I picked it up again, now I'm playing a Destroyer (the melee class). Great fun standing in the middle of huge crowds of enemies barely taking any damage thanks to a lot of highly enchanted armor handed down from the 1st character as well as various defensive skills. Halfway through the story and haven't died a single time, but the Shadow Vault after the main story will probably change that ...
  • well i had mi first ever game on bloodbourne and......................drum roll please................

i found the first monster, got too close and died, no weapon yer sees lol, now im in the hunters dream? got a couple of weapons off the messengers..i think, not that i know how to equip em lol

Hey mel the first encounter is a set up, you're pretty much supposed to die, no punching Scourge Beasts to death. Once you get your weapons on and go back there, and splatter it, those things will never be that easy again :))

Infact every time you encounter them they're worse, as they're always further into the game, so you're always slightly under-levelled to deal with them until much later on :))

...and even then, they're still pretty dangerous ;)

  • Finished watching/playing Game of Thrones which was on PS Plus for free. Story was OK but bits were starting to get ploddy.

Went back to Not a Hero for a bit. Managed to reach about stage 13, but getting a bit frustrated that when you die you have to do the whole level again (no checkpoints).

Also made a start on Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry. It's been some time since I played Black Flag and it chucks you straight into the action which caught me unawares at first. Not bad so far.
  • right, had another go on bloodborne, started again as last night i didnt "exit" properly lol, couldnt find the exit game option, its well hidden away Oo so it never saved.

again, got killed, went to the hunters dream, got the cleaver and pistol and notebook, and finally found out how to get back

    HOWEVER

how the smegg do you equip the pistol and cleaver? ive tried every button on the pad 47 times, all i do is stupid jigs, bashes and smashes Oo
Also tried using in the options / inventory but it wont let me.

an undertaker with a big axe and some fire just killed me as i was trying to punch and smash him with mi bare hands Oo

During the game press the options button, and you'll see the top boxes inventory, stats, system. Underneath these should be a load of empty boxes there's 4 for your weapons you can hold 2 in each hand, and you switch between them using left and right on the d-pad left is your guns, right is you melee weapons.
Underneath those boxes there should be another 4 empty boxes, these are for your armour, 1 for head, body, hands, and feet.
Underneath that should be 6 more empty boxes these are to equip items you have, which you can then quick select using down on the d-pad.

Pressing up on the d-pad will give you 5 emergency quicksilver bullets, that are used up before the ones you're holding, but it costs 25% of your health or something like that, only use it in an emergency.....and try not to do what I still do sometimes, and that's after hitting down a load of times accidentally scrolling past the item I want to use, and instinctively pushing up to scroll back, and stabbing myself in the leg, and getting 5 bullets I don't need.

Don't worry it took me what seemed like an eternity to work out what the hell I was doing :))

It's very fiddly at first, but once you get used to it you barely even have to think about what you're doing.

  • Bloodborne....again....

Seem to have backed myself into a corner with the Dungeons, all the ones I have open I've hit walls with the bosses just being ridiculous. Even my Quicksearch Dungeon I opened with the Small Ritual Root Chalice has an Undead Giant who is just too hefty, even bursting the tumour on his knee only knocks down about 1/4 of his health, and he recovers from it too quickly. Bolt, and Fire usually mash this mong up pretty badly, here it makes a noticeable, but still minimal difference to really matter.

My defiled Pthumeru Chalice has Amygdala, even with 2 extra Hunter NPCs with me were all just cannon fodder, My Ailing Loran Root Chalice has the Abhorrent Beast, and I can't get behind him anymore in this form, and finally, my third layer Isz Chalice Boss ended up Being Ebrietas. I gave her one go the other day solo, and did OK. So I thought alright you f*cker, summoned Prospector Gremia, and noticed Damien of Mensis had vanished, he's right next to the door. So I backtracked to where I'd seen Madman Waller, and it let me summon him.

Here I thought alright 2 meat shields while I get up close and pound the bast, nope, she charged right at me as I went through the fog killed me in 1 hit, a lot of time and 2 insight wasted from summoning the other idiots. I have no idea if they'd have been any use, I noticed their hits were doing negligible damage, but the didn't seem to be taking much either.

Sad thing is I don't think I have enough ritual materials to open up the Dungeons I've not explored yet, so it's either do these ones, or finish the game, but I'm not one to give up, although if the release date is correct this time Yakuza Kiwami will be here in 6 days......Could be time to go have that grown ups chat with Gehrmann sometime within the next six days :))

Or you could charge in like an idiot repeatedly, and get splattered ;)

yup, thats what i just did, lol, first time i thought theyd gone and i knocked on a door he said go away its the night of the hunt, i turned round and the **** were right next to me lol, another time i tried sneaking up stairs to the side and fought one with a pitchfork but died lol

  • I can't remember if you can even level up til' you kill the first boss now, a lot of From Software games do that, really drop you in the **** from the get go :))

Anyway from way back when I started playing this, on the way to the first boss you'll have an opportunity to "Summon Father Gascoigne"...maybe? Vampyre never got the option, I didn't summon him incase he murdered me, but he helps you with the first boss. You will probably have to have done something to give you insight, you'll learn all about that sh*t as you go....and so on :))

    Bloodborne....

I finally did the Rotted Ailing Loran Root Chalice Dungeon, I'd love to say I destroyed the Abhorrent Beast like a boss....But no I did it the Pussy way :))

I dodged around for about 15 minutes throwing Poison Knives at him, and used Bone Marrow Ash to up my Bloodtinge and shot at him with the Hunter Pistol, the Blunderbuss is no good against this guy. I got panicky though towards the end when he's going berserk. I'd ran out of both, and actually had to hit him :))

Fortunately once he goes mental he uses a lot of power attacks, and I think I've worked out the cool down on those now. Trying to go head on against him is just silly really unless you have a 999 on every stat, and even then I bet the bast will still be hard :))

Of course now the boss on the second layer of the Lower Loran Dungeon is of course the Abhorrent Beast....What is this game trying to do to me? :O

I finally expunged the Loran Chalice as well, the Lower Loran Chalice Dungeon has pretty much the same room as the previous one, but the monsters in it give almost 3000 echoes more per kill. I can get about 84000 to just walk in right from the Lamp, kill them and walk out again ;)

I'm just worried that because of all the echoes, and leveling up I'm doing for the Dungeons, I may find the endgame a little easy.....Oh well, I'm sure it'll get me back if I do NG+............tenfold....

EDIT: OK I set an online matching Password, it's "Boozy" with the upper case "B" (and minus the quote marks as well), so it took me a million years to work out how to do that, so if any of the Bloodborne players on here can work out how to summon me and enter that password, and I'm online I can play online with them. Just changed my online settings from Local to Worldwide, didn't even realise that was a thing :))

EDIT: EDIT: Oh just looked it up, I think me and the people who want to play all have to be online, and know we are. Then we set the password, so I'm gonna delete the one I set or else my online play is literally limited to people who know it.

Just so you know you go to system, network, and change password settings to whatever anybody has set it to, or set your own, and then invite people telling them the password. Then ring yer' bells ;)

  • I'm still playing Darksiders 2 and really enjoying it...proper epic adventuring that's reminding me of Zelda, Legacy Of Kain, Prince Of Persia and Shadowman games!

Will be interesting to see how the sequel turns out. It's got a lot of the same people working on it so hopefully it'll retain the atmosphere and feel of the other games! :)

  • Today I fired up that old classic I've sunk hundreds of hours into in the previous decade, Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory. Sadly there's only bots on most of the servers these days (0 ping is a dead giveaway), just like on this screenshot - but look at the names of two highest scoring bots on the left team, this was pretty remarkable:

    et2017-08-2522-43-26-luq6m.jpg

An hour later or so, I played on another server that actually had human players, plenty of regulars who I've seen in the past, including some guy called Monty on the run - I asked him about the freedom kit to which he replied: "It is a ferry to France" ... well, not quite the correct answer, but certainly somewhat relevant :)
  • Still playing Bloodborne, still doing dungeons...

I'm well and truly stuck as well :))

I have 2 Dungeons that Both Have Amygdala as the next boss, still haven't beaten the Abhorrent Beast, and I still have one with Ebrietas, and don't have enough ritual supplies to open any new ones.

I turned it off for a bit and played Oh No! on PS1 with the nephew for a little bit earlier just to give myself a bit of a break.

    OK mel....

You got the pistol and the cleaver, I'd suggest buying the Hunter Axe as your second right hand weapon next, when you convert it into a full length Battle Axe using L1, it's R2 attack can't be stopped once it's swinging. If an enemy tries to hit you and it connects you'll still take damage, but you'll get some of it back when you hit them with it. It's great for bigger enemies, and I pretty much relied on it for getting rid of Scourge Beasts, and those brick trolls....You're yet to find one of them I'm sure, but don't worry it's not far off. The second swing of the R2 attacks knocks most enemies down as well, even the bigger ones, it won't knock down huge enemies, but it might stagger them slightly which gives you a chance to back off, and charge it up again.

The Threaded Cane is alright, it's a bit showy, and doesn't do much damage, and it's OK for taking care of a mob in it's converted mode, but it's pretty much useless once you get far enough into the game, it just hasn't got the oomph, of a powered up Axe, or Cleaver. I didn't even bother leveling it past level 4 as it seemed a bit redundant compared with the other weapons I had with me by then.

I'd also buy the Blunderbuss as well, I find it much easier to counter up close using that than the Pistol, the pistol does fire faster, but I've had situations where my shot has gone through the enemy cos' it's too close, or it's missed completely, the spread of the Blunderbuss stops this from happening. Also since the Pistol fires a lot quicker it's easy to mistime the shot as well. You will find the Pistol useful later on though I'm sure. It's saved me against a couple of powerful bosses using bone Marrow Ash, and then shooting them with it. There's a Pistol you can get much later on called Evelyn, which scales it's damage with your bloodtinge, if you have a bloodtinge of about 40, and use Bone Marrow Ash before you fire it, it does a good chunk of damage......Of course you have to find it first ;)

I couldn't remember if the game would let me level up, earlier on, pretty sure it didn't, but if the Doll is in the Hunters Dream talk to her once you have some Blood Echoes and you can use her to level you up. I don't think she appears until you've at least tried to fight the Cleric Beast, which is the first Boss. I can't remember exactly, but I think I got there, died, and when I went back to the Hunters Dream the Doll was there. If that's how it happened, then you don't have to beat the first boss to be able to level up, you just have to reach it. You gain insight just for seeing a boss for the first time, and I think you need at least 1 insight to wake her up?

Oh and like Vampyre told me when I first started playing, don't be afraid to heal, enemies drop more Blood Vials especially in Yharnam....and they're dirt cheap from the messengers near the start of the game as well. They get more expensive as time goes on, I think they cost me 720 echoes now for 1, or 3500 from the messengers you find in the Chalice Dungeons. Oh and buy as many Quicksilver Bullets early on as you can, they're 400 echoes each once you get about halfway through the game, better to stock up early on when they're low priced, than be stuck later on with hardly any and them being expensive. It doesn't sound like much, but you can hold something like 780 in storage, and 20 on you making a total of 800, every time you return to the hunters dream you bullets and vials are automatically restocked from storage. It's amazing how quick you can burn through them :))

All your other items you have to restock manually.

  • hang on hang on, buy? Oo

couldnt even "buy" some pebbles didnt have enough blood echoes, had to find some instead.

My main failing is pressing R2 at the wrong time and swinging too early, too late, or the wrong way LOL thats why i get hit.

If you're having trouble aiming your swings you can click down R3 to lock onto the nearest enemy, if there's multiple enemies in range the right stick alternates between them once you're locked on. If there is a mob though remember clicking down on R3 also cancels the lock on, it's very hard to run away when you're locked onto the guy in the middle of the crowd that's running at you. Don't worry though panic still sets in on me, I've f*cked up so many times because I've fumbled a lock on when I'm outnumbered :))

Plus if you're fighting regular enemies I'd hit them using R1, this early on using a charge attack with R2 is slow, and if I remember uses nearly your entire stamina bar. You can swing 3 or 4 times I think using R1. I'd save R2 for single enemies right now, especially until you get the timing down, and level up a bit, so you have more Stamina, that green bar does get bigger eventually. Like I said try to isolate certain enemies with pebbles, or walk up on them slowly, if you have a mob in front of you walk slowly behind them. The ones at the back will probably stop and come after you. Then you back up, and walk backwards to lure them away from the crowd. It's a lot easier to kill a couple of Yharnamites at once than having the entire Hunt running after you. If you have a single enemy coming at you Lock on swing 2 or 3 times with R1, then dodge backwards with Circle and walk backwards until your Stamina refills a bit, lather, rinse, repeat. Sounds a little systematic, and a bit crap, but doing stuff like this is actually half the satisfaction of playing games like these, you have to be a little creative to survive here and there.

Of course it's a bit pussy, but if you find a few enemies you don't have any trouble killing, you can always kill them, then return to the Hunters Dream, come back and kill them again. It's slow, it's grindy, but it'll build up your echoes enough to where you can buy a few things that may help make your life a bit easier.

Oh and speaking of R2, and single enemies, if you walk really slowly up behind an enemy who has his back to you, you can hold down R2 to do the charge attack on him, you'll hear a chime, and he'll drop to his knees. When that happens quickly press R1, and you'll do a visceral kill on him. This gives you slightly more blood echoes, and looks pretty cool too, you can do this to most enemies when you counter them as well, you'll know you've got it right because they always drop to their knee, and it always makes that chime. You can even do this to some of the bosses.

Oh and also with the locking on be wary of sleeping, or sitting enemies, or enemies that are playing dead, in some cases the game won't let you lock onto them until you disturb them and they start moving, not to worry though, you still have plenty of time to flatten them before they get up ;)

  • one thing ive noticed, and not sure i like is

it seems very linear, you only really follow a single path, and now and again veer up some steps to the right etc, but mainly its on the one path?
Also i can knock on loads of house doors but you cant go in them?
And you can search bodies you kill, to find objects, but only like 1 out of maybe 20 bodies?
