Great Giana Sisters

Apparently The Great Giana Sisters never saw release for the ZX Spectrum, due to legal pressure from Nintendo. Yet, apparently some time ago a working copy did seem to surface:

There is always the possibility this is a fake of course, BUT I did find an interesting letter in SU november 1988 - where a certain Gavin Sharpin writes about the game - kind of proving that at least a few copies did find their way into the shops, just as happened with the C64 and Amiga versions:

Any hopes of finding a complete copy somewhere - so it can be dumped and preserved?

  • I asked exactly the same few months ago and got no answer :/ and I know that the supposed owner of those pictures is a user of WoS here in the forums...

Ah, didn't see pictures in your post, didn't know the same pics were used in that auction. Do take note of the SU letter though.

  • Yes, I remember this old thread too. The same screenshots, the same question and silence was the only answer.

And I wouldn't get too excited about letters in old mags. They were quite often made by the people who made the mag themselves ;)

lol, I wonder what kind of letters they recieved really.
I would imagine a lot of childish stuff from 8-11 year olds which never seemed to get printed.

  • So far, only the images in the magazine previews exist. I'm pretty sure we already did this one, and the images in the first post of it running on a real spectrum were proved to be fake.

I think this is the thread you're thinking of. It was going along nicely until the weasel got involved.
