Football is boring, but...

This made me laugh:

bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41728826

(I don't know how to link to the video directly, so go to the above page, and play the video).

And yes, football really is boring. Not as boring as golf, tennis, track sports, etc, perhaps, but it's still a sport and so it's boring. Me and lots of other fat, exercise-hating people agree!

  • Since I'm not well up on the finer rules of football, can I ask: In that video, after the ball hits the cross bar and goes up (and off camera), then the goalie runs away from the goal, and the ball comes down and misses the goalie by a fraction of a second. Well, if the ball had hit him, say on his head, and gone in the goal, I take it that would still have been counted as a goal? Because that would have also made for a great video.

And the player who kicked the ball first (the one in blue, who took the penalty), when the ball rebounded off the cross bar, is he allowed to kick it again to score, or is he only allowed one touch?

in a penalty shootout like that the kicker is only allowed 1 touch and cant kick in a rebound

one of the other rules of penalties is the keeper has to stay on his line, and in that vid he blatantly doesn't, in fact he's not even in the box when it goes in.. so maybe if the ref was feeling all reffy he couldve ordered a retake. so many ambiguous rules...

No, he has to be on his line when the kick is taken. Where he is after the kick is up to the keeper.

    What's the quickest?

insulting the mods. For example, for a late April Fools, I pm'd karingal, saying "I've just been talking to karingal, and he says you smell a bit". So karingal got really miffed at the insult, and banned karingal, closing the account. Then, when I pointed out that it was just a joke, and that he was himself karingal, he tried to ban me. Luckily for me, he couldn't reopen his karingal account, so he's had to create a new account for himself (the one he's using now, Rich C), and since it doesn't have modding priveldges, he can't ban me!

That's a true story. Now excuse me, whilst the orderly gives me my meds.

    There, there, karingal, cheer up!
Just because your calluses are softening up, doesn't mean the hammer has lost its firmness.

  • Sorry I've not posted anything in a day or two, I've been busy.

    Did I miss anything?

BTW, according to the "What is my website worth?" website siteprice.org/, WOS is today only worth $ 44,056. But yesterday it was worth $ 50,000,000,000 and a unicorn. What's changed?
