Nobody talking about the new Star Wars trailer?

  • Can I suggest those who aren't interested simply don't watch? These movies are not for you.

Me, I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this trilogy, the next one, and all the other standalones to come.

'They' have been doing a good job thus far, certainly no worse than some of Lucas' own efforts.

I can only do criticism if I see it, that's why I criticize. None of these movies I saw in the cinema, I wait for them to reach tv. I saw them there on my cable subscription. Anyway, I got up to the first 6 movies, but the new one is above and beyond (reference intended) my suspension of disbelief, even for a hardcore scifi fan who even sees Lexx. Those who like it ok, not going to turn them away, but wont say good things about them just because of that. :-)

  • The first six movies? Does that include the Ewok ones? Since they are far and away much worse movies than any that have come after.

Then wishing the rest of us get no more just because you happen not to like them much? Yeah, that goes beyond criticism, and it's something that Star Wars seems to draw out. I'm surprised you didn't say they were just cash grabs only done for the money.
  • To be fair I never saw much hate for Star Wars anywhere really until Episodes 1, 2, and 3 had all been released....Then I started feeling I didn't like them very much.

I'll get round to watching the new ones eventually, but I'm not expecting to be too impressed to be honest. So Far I still like the original trilogy best, don't know if that's cos' it's actually the best 3 films so far, or because nostalgia is blinding me?

  • I must admit that I did really enjoy both of the new movies even though there's much of Force Awakens that's too much of a reboot of the original film. Rogue One was really quite dark for a Star Wars movie.

With Disney seemingly trying to replicate rate-of-release of the Marvel Universe films there's a real danger that Star Wars is just going to get swamped with movies and people lose interest. That definitely happened with me with the Marvel films as I don't think I've watched any since Iron Man 2, and that was crap, as there's just too many of them to catch up with.

The Star Wars prequels I'm a bit funny with. I'm one of the rare people who thinks Phantom Menace is actually the best of them (not saying all that much I know) and if Lucas had just made a few tweaks it could have been awesome. Don't mind Jar-Jar all that much, but he never should have explained midi-chlorians and killing off Qui-Gon and Darth Maul was a big mistake. Episodes 2 and 3, well all I have to say is Anakin. Whiny, insufferable brat that you get no emotional attachment to.

  • Seems on here nobody is talking about anything.....
    The trouble with tribbles is.......
  • I really enjoyed The Force Awakens and Rogue One.They both felt like proper Star Wars movies to me.
  • Let's face it, George Lucas was never the best movie director. The original Star Wars was a deserving phenomenon at the time and still stands up to scrutiny. But he wisely handed over directing duties for Empire which made that better than it might have been.

Only years later with Episodes 1-3 did he disappear up his own arse and insisted on controlling everything himself. They weren't bad movies, but worse than they could have been. (I fear for Peter Jackson too, because after the deserved success of The Lord of the Rings, he's also taken an overly-blinkered control over all his work, to it's detriment.)

The two new Star Wars movies since Lucas let the franchise out of his grasp have really benefited from other people's ideas and artistic input. I'm really looking forward to The Last Jedi! B-)

  • And stop dragging out old animations by revamping them as 'live' action versions with the exact same story. How 'cheap' is that (probably cost 10 times as the original).

Roll on Altered Carbon, if Netflix ever release it.
    Sod it!
