  • Heh - someone had to say it...

The Greggs sausage rolls with beans thing I found weird though.

I don't think I've ever eaten anything from Greggs sitting down, ever, let alone manage to take it all the way home and add some more ingredients.
  • If you squint at that Morkinified pic it looks like there's a bunch of (vibrantly coloured) fries on top of the spaghetti ...
  • Yes, that would make it even more like one of Polos pics. Something like:

  • Oi !!! lmao!

Ok, ok, those pics are probably quite close to being correct ;)

  • One thing the USA does have over the UK is its baked beans! Those ones look all pale and washed out. I favour Bush's Homestyle with bacon and brown sugar. They are cordon bleu baked beans!

Thats whats on my saucer today. Eggs, beans, and chips. You gotta have a deep fat fryer to get chips right its the only way to go, they're dead cheap here mine was ten bucks.

Cooking epics in microwaves? A good idea but we cooked Thanksgiving dinner in our toaster oven, beat that!
  • Today's saucer, an omelette with micro chips

  • No pic but had something for tea we've not had in years - not before the kids were born IIRC so over 14 years now. A corned beef hash with cauli, peas and sweetcorn - blooming lovely it was too. Kids adored it after pulling there faces initially.

Ergh! Can't agree with you there Mike, I find American beans just to be loaded with sugar and unnecessary crap! They're mostly horrible, Those bushs one with onions are the most disgusting thing to come out of a can that isn't a Sweet Sue's "Whole Chicken in a can". I thought they'd be good, but they taste like the vilely modified onions that go on a MacDonalds burger, mixed with 8 pounds of sugar, and the beans are an afterthought.

The only canned beans I find even half edible here are f*cking Beanie Weenies, and they're crap as well :))

  • ^^^ Uh, oh! I sense a disturbance in the Bro-Force :))

Anyways, I'm hoping this comes out ok.

I have a chronic sweet tooth and I suppose that means you don't Boozy?

  • Nah not really, never have I suppose.

First thing I noticed after moving here, or even visiting before I moved here is just how sweet everything is. Regular BBQ Sauce freaked me out almost because it tastes more like fruit than BBQ Sauce. I have to buy Applewood, or Mesquite smoked, or I can't eat it.

Moving here the hardest thing to get used to was the food and the only thing I really miss about home is the food. Doesn't matter how long you've been away its always the food thats the hardest to get used to and others have said the same so its not just my weirdness.

For example, no gold top milk. Even the more expensive 'whole milk' they sell is like skim compared to milk as it was in England when I lived there. I say 'was' because it may have gone downhill in the UK too.

I miss good meat pies, steak and kidney as well as pork or chicken and ham, I miss green back bacon - its impossible to get here not even from a butchers shop. I tried to order it and the butcher said they don't use that cut for bacon.

I miss real not canned kippers.and have yet to locate a decent English style sausage - ok its probably 50% bread crumbs, who cares, its the taste and texture. Hell I'd die for Walls pork sausages thats really bad!

Funny what you can get though, no problem with custard, marmite, bovril and cadburys chocolate - you know, we're not talking cordon blue here, just comfort food, UK soul food!

So what is the recipe for an omelette like that ?

I made one yesterday and it was as heavy as lead and dry as the dessert. Perhaps I should stick to a slice of bread for every meal !

Isn't Beed an endangered animal ?

I had a Warburtons soft submarine roll with two fried Richmond pork sausages in, with fried onions, tomato ketchup, and mustard !

    Went down a treat !
