Somwhere to visit if you are into the strange, The floral clock in Palmera square Hove, the real burial place of King Arthur ???, the relics are even held in Hove museum which is on New church road which is less than a mile away from the old mound. It is rumoured that the Round Table was The Stone Circle just North of Hove Museum, which had a central Sun Stone called The Goldstone, which stood on the land that The Goldstone football ground was built on.

The stone was moved years before to protect from visiting pagan worshippers and was moved to Hove Park just over the main road from the football ground, to the sight of the old Hanging Gibbitt. The Goldstone is still in Hove park and is said to be in the shape of a face. Another big Stone Circle was to the East of this, less than a minute from the Clocktower in Brighton at St Nicholas church, leading East to another Stone Circle at The Old Stein ( Old Stone ) all of these circles are long gone, but like the Goldstone, there is the main stone from the St Nicholas circle at the church, and the base of the fountain at the Stein, stands on broken stones from this circle.

  • There's an official LEGO shop in the main shopping centre! And a reasonable supplier of pasties in Churchill Square. Also don't forget to visit the many Poundlands. And there's an Italian restaurant that does the hilarious 'Pizza Hollandaise' - with chips and mayo, to help the Dutch feel right at home.

  • Ditchling Beacon is my personal place of power. I have written a story based on that and interestingly Grey Key the articles you put links to contain very similar information to that which I based my story on and yet I was completely unaware of those publications. Coincidence?

I can figure out how to put a chunk of it up on Dropbox or similar if you like. My email is up in my settings here so I can also send you a section.

  • Thanks for reactions! I've been in Brighton already in February this year and also I have a friends living in Hove, so I had a walk around a bit. There is not many ex Speccy people in the company I work for (but surprisingly quite a few C64 users), so I was interested if it's because Brighton itself or just a coincidence. :)

I will check the places you've mentioned here!
  • It appears that the Amber cup and the other Grail Hallows are not on display at Hove museum at the moment, they have been moved to Brighton museum where they are to be housed in a new display made especially for them. It was felt that they were more important than they had been given credit for in the past, so it was felt that they needed to be awarded the respect due to them, also the security is stronger there. I don't know when the new exhibit will be opened, but it should be soon as it has already been delivered for installation.

  • You don't want to go to Brighton in February. The wind and rain coming off the sea can be lethal.

  • So, I came back last night. I pretty much enjoyed it in Brighton, a great beer and food, summer weather and good mood. I've even seen someone proudly wearing t-shirt "ZX Spectrum", just had no chance to stop him to have a short chat. Next trip there will be probably again in February next year (and no, there is no "real" winter in UK, so I am all fine with that! :-).

    Cheers!

  • Must have been Chalky White, or me, was the fella wearing it about 150 with a beard that reached the floor and walking with a zimmer frame sprayed in dayglow paint ?
