England have a good defense, but their attack is lacking so far in this game.
….and the Colombians seem to be playing a particularly dirty game, so far, lots of pushing, shoving, grabbing, and fouling....Almost thought there were going to be a couple of punch ups in the first half.

Such a strange match. We were by a mile the better team apart from the first half of ET and had two sitters missed by Alli and Dier. They showed some resilience I didn't think England had and they're going to be better for that result last night. Really don't want to go through that again though...

Initial encouragement at the performance, backed up by joy at scoring and looking like we would win, only for the typical frustration of throwing it away at the death, then the familiar fear and negative play ending up with stalemate and inevitable loss on penalties....
Except we actually WON on penalties!!!! :-O
When it came down to that, I actually wasn't nervous any more - I've been through it too many times and merely shrugged, saying "Well that's it then, we're gonna go out on penalties...". It was kind of weird experiencing it with my (Irish) kids because they'll never have the attachment to England or understand the painful journey I've bee through to that point, and they were actually more worked up than me during the shootout, as I'd just resigned myself to the inevitable....
So for England to show they had practiced and were able to actually take good penalties under such pressure (even the one that got saved) was unbelievable! :D
Onwards and upwards!
Sweden will pose a very dour challenge, but I think if England keep playing the way they have, they should win. They're creating enough chances, but need to put more of them away.

I had an extremely rough night at work last night, but it was worth every drop!!! ;)
We've got Croatia on the run, and we've got a decent enough team now who seem to be willing to pass the ball, and actually be a team, as adverse to a giant blob of egostistical dinosaurs on the field crying every time they lose possession, and blaming their own team mates for it.
But they're still playing a dangerous game, albeit quite skillful compared to past England line ups.....I just hope they don't hang on to this 1 goal then f*ck it up with 5 minutes to go....I know what we're like.....It could happen....
Now I feel like I could've spent the last few weeks doing something else instead....
