  • I just finished watching The Orville season 2. I've read that people thought S2 was an improvement on S1, but I don't agree. Season 2 had a lot of "filler material" and was too heavy on stories about Moclans. Storywise it was also pretty uneven - especially one story thread going through most of the season was stupid and unrealistic.
That being said - when it worked, it really WORKED! There was a couple of KICK ASS episodes in there - a two-parter in the middle of the season and the kinda-sorta double-episode that closes out the season was very good too.
I had fun though ... more than I have with Star Trek Discovery.

Was Cuddles in this season? I was disappointed he didn’t feature in the first one.

Finished Cobra Kai season 2. Loved it. Definitely as good as the first season which is really saying something.

What I love about it is that it's shades of grey, not black and white like The Karate Kid was (Daniel/Miyagi = Good, Cobra Kai/Johnny Lawrence = Bad). Every character has their faults, none of them are intrinsically good/bad, they just deal with what life throws at them. It makes them such rounded characters. Season 1 Daniel pulls off the biggest scum bag move of all the characters when he gets the owner of the mall where Cobra Kai is located to double the rent of all the shops. Real piece-of-sh*t move that one and his (rather hot) wife lets him know about it.

'Bout to watch ep1 of Season 2, hopefully I'll have a few minutes to watch a few more, I really should've waited until after Friday to start, but I can't wait. Friday I'm going for my US Citizenship exam, so I should really be focused on that, but I feel like I need a half hour or so to maybe apply a small amount of wax....Possibly on...Then off? Floors may also need sanded, and fences painted, but that comes later no doubt.

    STRIKE FIRST!

    STRIKE HARD!

    NO MERCY!!!

EDIT: Nostalgia freakdown...Literally watched trhe opening, and I have cold chills running through me, but not bad ones, good ones....I'd say why didn't this show happen earlier....But, we needed such terrible sh*t as Karate Kid 3, The Next Karate Kid, and That one with the china and Kung Fu, and Will Smiths knob drippings apparently....Ergh!.

I'm actually glad they waited beyond the crap, if this had've happened in the 90's it would have been on par with the Alien Nation, and Robocop Shows. For all TV is super super crap these days.....Semi-Independent pay channel stuff seems to be half decent.....Total 180 really.

I think it took some writers who just really, really care about the source material and were determined to do it justice. I don't think Ralph Macchio would have got on board with it otherwise. I still can't get over he's nearly 60!!

I hope you enjoy it because I certainly did. The last episode is probably the weakest IMO but it's still pretty good. I have an inkling what might be happening in season 3 though - no spoilers from me though :-)

4 Episodes in, but it's time for bed, so far not disappointed! :D

...As for the ages of the original cast members here's hoping they don't all suddenly die, that happens a lot with stuff like this It's always good shows as well, but the cast of sh*t shows live til' they're 12 million years old, and continue on for ever, and ever....

As much as the idea of GOT interests me I have literally no interest in it....and I saw a few snippets of the last episode while I was getting ready for work the other night, and it looked laughably crap.

My wife binge watched the whole thing leading up to the current season, and after hearing the sh*t in the background it went from maybe I was wrong for not watching it to, thank f*ck I didn't bother....

Lord of the Rings with tits, and dragons that make Skyrim look good..... :))

...Oh and John Snow, Hello John...Again.....and again.....and again....

...and that deformed looking bitch with the bow and arrow......f*ck off!

To be fair GoT is one of the few major shows that hasn't jumped the shark at some point and does retain a pretty high standard. However... there has been a dip in quality over the last 2-3 seasons simply because they haven't got GRRM's source material to go from as the lazy tit hasn't written it yet. The script writers deal in the obvious, in my opinion, whereas GRRM didn't and would kill off a major character at a whim. Let's face it, The Mountain vs The Viper would have had a very different outcome had the script writers written that scene.

And don't get me started on Dorne - what a waste of time.

I binge-watched the lot in 2 days. There's one episode where you're in for a real nostalgia treat. It's beautifully handled - bad ass and ultimately very sad.

Episode 6 per chance? Just watched it.....

Road trip....Tommy....Sad Face....It seriously almost jerked a tear from me :))

But when Johnny ripped that Mexican dudes guage out in the bar fight I was like "AAAAAGH!!!!"....I've only got 1 piercing left, and it made me almost put my hand over it :))

    Monkey! (magic).

Yup fancied going oldskool, couldn't think,of anything newer I fancied watching, but Monkey! will always put a smile on my face, from it's borderline racist dubbing, to it's terrible quality low budget fight scenes.

It's a win in all directions, for all the wrong reasons :))

  • Have you watched the new Monkey that was on Netflix? It isn't terrible. Not as much fun as the original, but equally not being completely po faced about it either. I quite enjoyed it for what it was.

I spotted some stills of it online a while back in an image search, whilst looking for something else that was Saiyuki related. Looked interesting, but it's one of those shows that makes me think do I? Or don't I? whenever I think about starting to watch it.

I probably will some day as I've been completely obsessed with Monkey/Monkey King/Journey West/Saiyuki whatever you want to call it since Monkey! was on the TV in England in the very early 1980's. When channel 4 re-ran the show back in about 2003 I pretty much taped all the episodes onto VHS. I no longer have the tapes now, but at the time I was quite happy for a while.

Actually now that I think of it Monkey could potentially be my favourite TV show ever :))

I've been a bit bored the last couple of days so I decided to challenge myself and watch a load of truly gruesome films again....To name a few Irreversible, Martyrs, and a Serbian film.

Irreversible is still pretty rough, Martyrs I never found that shocking even with the subject matter, still seems a bit high budget and artsy fartsy, but today I can safely say that it's the second and last time I will ever watch a Serbian Film. I have no idea why I decided to watch it again, I knew what was coming, but I can say for certain watching it for the second time it's way, way, worse. Especially the ending.

The sketchy site I've been using to watch movies and TV shows doesn't have Salo on it surprisingly enough, but I'm kind of glad, I think I hit my limit today. I've got a pretty strong stomach for sh*t like this.

    But nope I'm done :))

  • Still not got the guts to watch A Serbian Film. Irreversible was bad enough, it haunted my thinking for days, which I guess is exactly what the director was after. I've heard ASF is worse so I'm pretty much noped out on that one.

Yeah what makes this one so bad isn't the imagery which is still pretty disgusting, it's the uncertainty of what's going to happen, and the fact that when it does the guy and pretty much everyone involved has been so manipulated, that tragically in the end the horrible things he ends up doing he's not even responsible for, even it though he does it.

What makes it truly bad is since the main character is an ex pornstar trying to Iive a normal life, but being dragged back in countless times to keep a roof over his families head, and how he's exploited it gets you thinking this could, and probably has happened to people in real life.

Definitely not one for the fragile amongst us, truly horrible stuff.

Nope! Even if I was qualified I wouldn't, no amount of money would be enough for me to stand in front of a court of law, and exploit every loophole in that law to keep people I know are guilty out of jail. Not saying everyone IS guilty, but most high profile cases are people with money who blatantly did it throwing fistfuls of cash at a yes man to keep them out of jail. When somebody who's innocent with little or no money goes to jail because they can't subsidise the scumbag in the suits "bills".

I've always viewed the modern legal system as a bit of a circus really.

Well It's my day off work, I've wasted most of it babysitting my nephew, and now he's finally gave me some breathing space, it's too late to do any of the many, many things I hoped to achieve today.

So I'm gonna cook some shitty food up instead of actually preparing myself the meal I'd planned for myself, and I'm going to finally bite the bullet and watch the Last Jedi.....I'm not expecting good things, but who knows I could be surprised for all the negativity, The Force Awakens wasn't as shite as I thought it would be, I'll say it was better than eps 1-3...….But this one, I'm not so sure....But hey let's see.....

I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.

    *Que Star Wars theme track!

In a Man Cave, Still pretty far away

    Episode LIX

    THE LAST JEDI SUCKED BALLS

    Well
    I'd heard
    nothing but hate
    for The Last Jedi...….

but I'll be honest it didn't leave me
a seething raging mess, I just thought to myself
    how decidedly average...……………………………….

They tried to do too much in one go, and basically left themselves a very poor set up for any future movies. Basically you've got a ridiculously overpowered super Jedi, who doesn't know how to be a Jedi vs a very scared confused and angry young boy who's proclaimed himself Supreme Leader of the Universe even though he obviously has no idea how to do that either. The Force awakens wasn't a great movie on it's own, but it set up several potential branches for what could have been really good possible story lines a new set of movies could have taken...…...and then along comes The Last Jedi, and burns down the whole bush, leaving nothing but the obviously very cliched and somewhat charred stump behind.

EDIT: Well the formatting for the text didn't quite work for the beginning of the post, but it got there in the end, and I had literally saved this whole post as a Star Wars intro, but to actually get it to where I could embed it as a reply here I'd have had to wait in a queue for anywhere up to a possible 6 months. I thought nope I'll go with the badly formatted text instead...
